President Erdoğan addressed the nation after the Cabinet Meeting
Delivering remarks following the Presidential Cabinet Meeting, President Erdoğan said: “We can see clearly each passing day that our current constitution, which the September 12 regime imposed on our nation by force of arms, does not fit Türkiye and the Turkish democracy, and is far from meeting Türkiye’s needs. We expect all to realize that our goal of advanced democracy cannot be achieved by being a hostage to prejudices.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a press conference following the Presidential Cabinet Meeting at the Presidential Complex.
President Erdoğan said: “We opened the 3rd Legislative Year of the 28th Term of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (GNAT) on October 1 Tuesday. During our address at the GNAT, we reaffirmed our will to immediately save the Turkish democracy from the shame of a post-coup constitution and introduce a new, civilian constitution. We can see clearly each passing day that our current constitution, which the September 12 regime imposed on our nation by force of arms, does not fit Türkiye and the Turkish democracy, and is far from meeting Türkiye’s needs. We expect all to realize that our goal of advanced democracy cannot be achieved by being a hostage to prejudices. We sincerely hope that all the political parties will constructively respond to our call for a new constitution. As we have repeatedly announced to the public, I would like to once again explain that neither our party nor the People’s Alliance has any problem with the first four clauses of the Constitution, and that the discussions on the first four articles do not contribute to the process.”
“THE FIRE ISRAEL HAS STARTED BY ATTACKING GAZA IS BEING SPREAD TO THE ENTIRE REGION”
Underscoring that during the opening session of the new legislative year, they also shared with the public the security challenges Türkiye is faced with, and noted: “The fire Israel has started by attacking Gaza is being spread to the entire region by the current government acting with a religious fanaticism. We have frequently stated since October 7 that the issue is neither Gaza nor Hamas, and that the true intention is to maintain the policy of occupation. We have explained at every opportunity since the very first day that Israel will not stop in Gaza, and will set its sights on the other countries in the region. Because of our warnings, we have been exposed to unfair criticism by some of our friends and certain circles in our country. We have been accused of intention reading and exaggerating the crisis. We have been accused of making foreign policy an instrument for domestic policy. However, the recent attacks Israel has launched on Lebanon has once again shown how accurate our concerns are. The statements made by the Netanyahu cabinet clearly indicate that Israel will not be content with occupying Lebanon. The Israeli administration becoming so impudent as to attack the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, to threaten the Interim Force is enough to prove the seriousness of the issue for those whose doors of comprehension are still open.”
“ISRAELI GOVERNMENT WILL NOT END ITS ATTACKS AS LONG AS IT RECEIVES UNCONDITIONAL SUPPORT FROM AMERICA AND EUROPE”
President Erdoğan went on to say: “I have to say that a United Nations being incapable of protecting even its own personnel is a source of shame and concern for the international system. Honestly speaking, we wonder what the Security Council still waits to stop Israel. Can you imagine it? The Israeli tanks enter the UNIFIL zone, attack Interim Force’s soldiers, what is more injure some of them, but the United Nations Security Council merely watch all these banditries from the stands. This is impotence, this is giving in to Israeli aggression. That is why we have for years said, ‘the World is bigger than 5’. We will continue to sonorously voice the facts from now on as well in order this unjust picture to be changed.
“Today, we all see this fact: The Israeli government, which pursue Zionist ambitions, will not end its attacks as long as it receives unconditional support from America and Europe. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of National Defense explained during the closed session of the GNAT what the purpose, intention and true plan are. We know that no matter what we do, we will not be able to make those, who turn a blind eye to the threat despite the atrocity after October 7, accept some facts. We remember that those, who today assume the role of voluntary spokesperson of Israel, voiced the same sentences for the separatist terrorist organization’s Syrian extension in the past. These are the very same people who have responded the most to our operations aimed at eliminating the threat of terror in the north of Syria and Iraq. It is of course not surprising that they are the same circles who have sought to undermine our fight against the treacherous gang of FETO.”
“ISRAEL SEEKS TO PREVENT THE RELIEF WORKS”
Underscoring that another urgent issue they have been closely following is the occupation of the Rafah border crossing by the Israeli forces, President Erdoğan drew attention to the significant decrease in the amount of the aid sent to Gaza due to the occupation, and said: “Israel, by especially terrorizing the relief agency for Palestinian refugees, seeks to prevent the relief works. We endeavor to deliver our aid to the needy Gazan people by using all the possible avenues before winter comes. We are also carrying out the evacuation of our citizens in Lebanon in the face of increasing air and ground attacks. Recently, we have delivered some 300 tons of aid supply to the region and evacuated a total of 966 people by our Bayraktar and Sancak vessels from the Port of Beirut. In case of need and request, our evacuation operations will continue.”
President Erdoğan also congratulated Daron Acemoğlu on winning the 2024 Nobel economics prize.
