“A historic window of opportunity has opened up before our country to end the scourge of terror for good”
Addressing AK Party’s 8th Ordinary Provincial Congress in Diyarbakır, President Erdoğan said: “In the wake of some critical changes in our politics and our region, a new and historic window of opportunity has opened up before our country to end the scourge of terror for good. We think it would be wrong to waste it.”
President and Justice and Development (AK) Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at the party’s 8th ordinary provincial congress in Diyarbakır.
Drawing attention to Türkiye’s anti-terror fight that has been ongoing for over 40 years and the thousands of public servants and innocent citizens who have died a martyr’s death during this period, President Erdoğan said: “As a result of our uncompromising efforts in the fight against terror, thanks be to Allah, we have made the terrorist organization unable to carry out any act inside our borders. We have also drawn the terror elements in other countries away from our borders to a great extent.”
“THE REVOLUTION STAGED IN SYRIA THWARTED THE REGIONAL AMBITIONS OF THE TERRORIST ORGANIZATION”
Underscoring that the revolution staged in Syria on December 8 thwarted the regional ambitions of the terrorist organization, President Erdoğan said: “No matter on whom they lean, all terrorist organizations, as you see, know now that they stand no chance against the state of the Republic of Türkiye. Obviously, we have never given up pursuing a permanent resolution to the matter. In the wake of some critical changes in our politics and our region, a new and historic window of opportunity has been opened before our country to end the scourge of terror for good. We think it would be wrong to waste it.”
President Erdoğan added that the purpose of the recent efforts is the self-dissolution of the terrorist organization, the unconditional laying down of arms and the total removal of the organization’s tutelage over politics.
“WE HAVE PROVIDED OUR COUNTRY WITH PREVIOUSLY-UNIMAGINABLE RIGHTS”
“This is not an issue that concern our Kurdish brothers and sisters, it is only limited to the elimination of the terrorist organization,” President Erdoğan further stressed, and continued as follows: “Through many reforms, silent revolutions carried out in the past 22 years, our country’s century-long problems have one-by-one been solved. Through the steps we have taken, we have provided our country with countless previously-unimaginable rights. Regardless of their origin, faith, disposition, or political view, each and every one of our 85 million citizens are benefitting from the reforms of rights and freedoms.”
