“A new constitution is not a luxury but a belated necessity for Türkiye”
Speaking at a meeting with representatives of NGOs in Muğla, President Erdoğan said: “A new constitution is not a luxury but a belated necessity for Türkiye. Steps taken in this direction will help us achieve our goal of the Century of Türkiye more easily and more rapidly.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech during a meeting with representatives of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Muğla.
“WE HAVE BEEN WORKING DAY AND NIGHT TO SERVE TÜRKİYE IN ITS ENTIRETY”
Stressing that the ruling party’s guiding principle has been to win over hearts and prayers of the nation during their 22 years in power, President Erdoğan said: “We have been working day and night to serve Türkiye in its entirety without excluding anyone, whether they vote for us or not. I would like to re-emphasize that there is no place for discrimination in our political philosophy, nor for marginalizing anyone due to their faith, preferences, or the political parties they subscribe to. Each one of our 85 million citizens is our true brother and sister, regardless of their ethnicity, worldview or electoral preference. As I always say, we are a giant family of 85 million.”
“WE HAVE IMPLEMENTED MANY CRUCIAL REFORMS THAT WERE UNIMAGINABLE BEFORE US”
Drawing attention to the revival Türkiye has experienced over the past 22 years, President Erdoğan said: “We reached a growth of 1.130 trillion dollars last year in Türkiye, whose economic growth was 230 billion dollars in 2002. We forecast our national income to reach 1.331 trillion dollars by the end of 2024 and our income per capita to reach 15.551 dollars.”
Noting that Türkiye’s export figures have increased from some 36 billion dollars to over 261 billion dollars in the past 22 years, President Erdoğan added: “With determination, perseverance and patience, we have implemented many crucial reforms that were unimaginable before us, and have taken countless steps in the realms of rights and freedoms. We have taken Türkiye to these days with safety and stability, and more importantly, with unity and solidarity.”
“WE NEED A DEMOCRATIC, INCLUSIVE AND LIBERTARIAN CONSTITUTION”
Stressing the need for a new constitution in Türkiye, President Erdoğan further stressed: “Even though the opposition turns a deaf ear to our sincere calls, we need a democratic, inclusive and libertarian constitution drafted by the hands of civilians. A new constitution is not a luxury but a belated necessity for Türkiye. Steps taken in this direction will help us achieve our goal of the Century of Türkiye more easily and more rapidly.”
Expressing his pleasure to see that most of the parties at the parliament are in agreement on many issues, President Erdoğan said: “AK Party and the People’s Alliance have a strong and dynamic will for a new constitution. We hope that the parliament, which has the most pluralistic arithmetic of recent years now at its 28th term, will fulfill what is expected of it. We, therefore, will come closer to our goal of leaving a freer, more prosperous and stronger country to our children.”
