Speaking at an opening ceremony in Bitlis, President Erdoğan said: “As the dark shadow of terrorism recedes from our eastern and southeastern provinces, the potential of our cities, which has been unutilized for years, is being revealed.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at a mass opening ceremony of public and private sector investments in Bitlis.
Noting that they were paying a visit to Bitlis to commemorate the 953rd anniversary of the Victory of Manzikert, President Erdoğan said: “We are happy to inaugurate both public and private investments, each one more significant than others, here in Bitlis.”
“The current value of the investments we have made in our city only in the spheres of environment and urbanization in the last 22 years has reached TL26 billion. The total investments made in Bitlis during the our governments exceeded TL76 billion. We have achieved projects that will change the landscape of our city in every field from education to health, agriculture to transportation, social assistance to energy. Currently, TL1 billion 766 million worth of environment and urbanization investments are ongoing in Bitlis,” President Erdoğan said.

“Day by day, we see a fact more clearly; as the dark shadow of terrorism recedes from our eastern and southeastern provinces, the potential of our cities, which has been unutilized for years, is being revealed. Our provinces in the region have gained a very distinctive momentum, especially in tourism and investments. Fear has been replaced by peace and concern by security. Backwardness is no longer the misfortune of our region. As the climate of peace grows stronger across our region, investments are advancing much faster. Today, we are extracting one of the largest oil reserves of our country in Gabar Mountain, which was a terror nest up until recently. We obtain half of Türkiye’s daily oil production of nearly 110 thousand barrels from our discovery in Gabar,” President Erdoğan said.
“WE WILL BUILD THE CENTURY OF TÜRKİYE TOGETHER”
“The old Türkiye is now completely behind us. No more are the days when our people were otherized because of their origin, belief or language. No more are the days when politics was designed with the stick of terrorism, society was brought into line and direction was drawn for our country. The old days of prohibitions, oppression, poverty and deprivation are now gone forever,” President Erdoğan said.
Stating that they will not allow anyone to take away the achievements, won by paying a very heavy price as a result of difficult struggles, President Erdoğan underlined that they will not allow the terrorist threat, whose back they have broken, whose breath they have cut off, and which they have crippled within the borders of the country, to be revived again.
“Just as we have overcome many difficulties in the last 22 years, and accomplished many things that were said to be impossible, undoable and unimaginable, we will build the Century of Türkiye together,” President Erdoğan said.
President Erdoğan also inaugurated the Ahlat Commando Battalion Command in Bitlis.
Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, Chairman of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Devlet Bahçeli, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler and President of Religious Affairs Ali Erbaş attended the event as well.
