President Erdoğan at Anıtkabir
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the ceremony, held at Anıtkabir (Atatürk’s Mausoleum) on the occasion of the 101st anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic.
After President Erdoğan laid a wreath at the mausoleum, the attendees observed a moment of silence and sang the Independence March.
Afterwards, President Erdoğan proceeded to the Misâk-ı Millî Tower where he wrote in the Book of Honor the following:
“August Atatürk,
Today, we are feeling the rightful joy of reaching the 101st anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic, which has been entrusted to us by you and which is both the greatest work and source of pride of our nation.
On this day of pride, I congratulate all our citizens living at home and all across the world, and all our kinsmen sharing our joy with us on 29 October Republic Day. On this occasion, I once again remember with gratitude Your Excellency, your brothers-in-arms and our august martyrs.
We are taking all kinds of measures to protect our country’s perpetuity and our nation’s security during a period when the borders in our region are sought to be drawn once again with blood and tears, as was the case a century ago.
The spirit of unity, solidarity and brotherhood, which crowned the National Struggle with the proclamation of the Republic, guides us and brightens our path like a torch during this period.
The Republic of Türkiye, led by confident and qualified cadres, continues its sacred journey extending from the past to the future in a more determined manner than ever.
May you rest in peace!”
