President Erdoğan spoke at the Opening Ceremony of Marmara University Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Complex Educational Buildings
Speaking at the opening ceremony of new education buildings at Marmara University, President Erdoğan stated: “We said we would leave no city without a university, and we have done so. We have extended higher education opportunity even to the remotest corners of our country. Accordingly, we have also increased the number of our professors, associate professors and PhD lecturers.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the Marmara University Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Complex 1st and 2nd Sections’ Education Buildings’ Opening Ceremony in Istanbul.
“WE HAVE BUILT A POWERFUL, DYNAMIC AND PROLIFIC ECOSYSTEM OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT”
Noting that approximately 340 thousand foreign students from 198 different countries are currently studying in Türkiye, President Erdoğan praised that Turkish universities go international.
“During our overseas trips, we frequently come across with academics, businesspeople and ministers who, having studied in Türkiye, speak Turkish fluently and see themselves as voluntary envoys of our nation. Those who graduate from Türkiye continue to contribute to our country’s economy, tourism and cultural diplomacy even after they leave Türkiye,” the President said.
Drawing attention to the important steps taken over the past 22 years to make the Century of Türkiye also a century of technology and prosperity, President Erdoğan noted that the number of universities in Türkiye has increased from 76 in 2002 to 208 at the present.
President Erdoğan stated: “We said we would leave no city without a university, and we have done so. We have extended higher education opportunity even to the remotest corners of our country. Accordingly, we have also increased the number of our professors, associate professors and PhD lecturers. We have built a powerful, dynamic and prolific ecosystem of research and development and entrepreneurship not only in specific cities but also across all the geographical regions. We will do much more in the period ahead. We will step up our efforts to elevate our country to the place it deserves in science, industry, and education, including higher education.”
