President Erdoğan spoke at the opening program of the 40th COMCEC Meeting

 

Addressing the Opening Event of the 40th Session of the COMCEC, President Erdoğan said: “It is of great importance that the Islamic world sets aside its differences of opinion and supports the people of Palestine and Lebanon in their rightful struggle.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at the Opening Event of the 40th Session of the COMCEC in Istanbul.

“ONE OF THE MOST BRUTAL GENOCIDES OF THE LAST CENTURY IS TAKING PLACE IN GAZA”

Noting that humanity and particularly Muslims have gone through a year filled with severe trials since the last COMCEC meeting, President Erdoğan said: “The Islamic world has become associated with blood, pain, tears and oppression more than ever in its history. One of the most brutal genocides of the last century took place and is still taking place right next to us in Gaza. Our 50 thousand Palestinian brothers and sisters have died a martyr’s death and over 100 thousand others have been wounded in the attacks Israel launched against Gaza 13 months ago. Two-thirds of the wounded and martyrs are women, children and infants. They have condemned 2 million people to a very tiny area of 360 square kilometers without food, water and medicine and then just watched them die. The children of ummah continue to die and become orphans in Gaza and Lebanon even as we hold these meetings. We have all witnessed the kind of cruelty that would eclipse even the concentration camps established in the heart of Europe during the World War II, first in Gaza and then in Lebanon for the past six months.”

“THE ZIONIST REGIME AND ITS SUPPORTERS HAVE CARRIED OUT ALL FORMS OF OPPRESSION”

Drawing attention to the heroic resistance put up by the lions of Gaza against a ravenous death machine that receives unlimited support from Western powers, President Erdoğan stated: “The Palestinian people have had 50 thousand martyrs in 13 months. Our Lebanese brothers and sisters have sacrificed a large number of their children in the same way. There have been almost no pain, hardship, ordeal or oppression that they have not sustained over the past 13 months. Despite all this, our Palestinian brothers and sisters have never compromised their honor. They have never backed down from their will to live freely in their own homeland. The Zionist regime and its supporters have carried out all forms of oppression and genocide. However, they have been unable to get our Palestinian brothers to bow down.”  

“OUR COUNTRY IS THE BIGGEST SUPPLIER OF AID TO GAZA”

Saluting the Palestinians defending their lands despite all kinds of hardships, poverty and abandonment, President Erdoğan highlighted that Türkiye is one of the countries displaying, since day one, the most determined stance against the genocide committed by Israel. “We work to help our brothers and sisters with all means at our disposal. So far, we have delivered over 85 thousand tons of humanitarian aid supply to Gaza with the support of the Egyptian authorities. This figure makes our country the biggest supplier of aid to Gaza.”

Pointing out that Türkiye has further increased its aid to the UNRWA, which stands by the Palestinian refugees, ahead of the looming winter conditions, President Erdoğan underscored: “As you know, Israel has recently taken an outrageous decision to ban the UNRWA. We believe our member states should increase their support for the UNRWA at a time when Israel steps up the pressure. The recognition of the state of Palestine by more states would be one of the best responses to the Zionist aggression against Gaza and Lebanon. I hereby would like to reiterate my call for all countries to recognize the state of Palestine.”

“It is of great importance that the Islamic world sets aside its differences of opinion and supports the people of Palestine and Lebanon in their rightful struggle,” said President Erdoğan. “As you know, Palestine’s liberation from occupation is listed both in the founding philosophy and among the core objectives of our organization. We should display solidarity and unity more than ever in order to produce lasting solutions that would serve this goal.”

“WE MUST BE MORE VIGILANT THAN EVER IN ADVANCING OUR KNOWLEDGE AND CAPACITY CONCERNING CYBERATTACKS”

Emphasizing the importance of strengthening cooperation among the OIC member states to overcome the bleak picture in global economy, President Erdoğan said: “I believe that coordination among member states on the preservation of global economic stability and the prevention of financial crises is of critical importance to develop joint solutions. We can promote growth by establishing mutual support mechanisms, collectively contributing to the acceleration of global recovery.” 

Stressing that the development and advancement of the Islamic world is dependent on enhancing the youth’s qualifications in line with the needs of the time, President Erdoğan went onto say: “It is of vital importance that our youth are protected against threats as they benefit from digital environments in today’s world of rapidly advancing technology. We must be more vigilant than ever in advancing our knowledge and capacity concerning cyberattacks and data breaches. The terrorist acts that have recently taken place in Lebanon have openly demonstrated the importance of the capacity to counter cyberattacks.”
