“The days when some people had privileges before the law are now over”

Speaking at the debut of the Judicial Reform Strategy, President Erdoğan said: “A transition from the pro-tutelage structure, where the law of the superior prevailed, to a just judicial system, which is based on the rule of law, has been ensured. The days, when some people had privileges before the law due to their political and ideological identities, or economic status, are now over.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at the debut of the Judicial Reform Strategy at Beştepe Nation’s Convention and Culture Center in Ankara.
Commencing his speech by wishing Allah’s mercy upon those, who lost their lives in the hotel fire in Bolu Kartalkaya, and a speedy recovery to the injured under treatment, President Erdoğan extended his condolences to their families and the Turkish nation.
“A TRANSITION HAS BEEN ENSURED TO A JUST JUDICIAL SYSTEM”
“That the reputation of the judicial authority, which takes decisions on behalf of the Turkish nation, is not damaged and the community’s confidence in justice is not shaken are above all considerations for us,” President Erdoğan underscored, and said: “We have indeed displayed a great sensitivity on this issue since we took office in 2002. We have taken numerous steps in a wide range of areas, from rendering our courthouses suitable for the sacredness of the services offered to the number of staff, from regulations to digitalization. By adding the principle of impartiality of the judiciary to its principle of independence, we have paved the way for our prosecutors and judges to duly fulfill their duties. Although the privileged circles of the old Türkiye still find it difficult to accept but a transition from the pro-tutelage structure, where the law of the superior prevailed, to a just judicial system, which is based on the rule of law, has been ensured. The days, when some people had privileges before the law due to their political and ideological identities, or economic status, are now over.”
“WE REALIZE DEEP-ROOTED INSTITUTIONAL CHANGES”
Stating that the reform works gained momentum with the two strategy documents prepared between 2015 and 2019, President Erdoğan noted that today marks the launch of the 4th Judicial Reform Strategy Document that covers a period between 2025 and 2029, and added: “First of all, I need to point out that the Judicial Reform Strategies, whereby we realize deep-rooted institutional changes through an understanding based on sustainability, complement one another. Our new document has been prepared by evaluating the developments so far and identifying the innovations the system needs. Thus, as I have just said, this document also follows and complements our other documents.”
“WE WILL ACCELERATE THE WORKS FOR A NEW, CIVILIAN CONSTITUTION”
Stressing that the first purpose of the 4th Judicial Reform Strategy Document is the empowerment of the institutional structure and the restructuring of processes, President Erdoğan said: “In this sense, we will accelerate the works for a new, civilian, intermediary, unifying and libertarian constitution that embraces all segments of the society. We will strengthen our institutional capacity in the area of human rights and ensure that rights and freedoms are protected more actively with the new Human Rights Action Plan.”
Further noting that they are determined to improve judicial information systems in line with current technologies, President Erdoğan stated that they will also make use of artificial intelligence practices in judicial services.
