“The principle of ‘Let the people live so that the state lives’ guides our administration”

Speaking at the drawing ceremony for the 109th Term District Governorship Course, President Erdoğan said: “Our guide and compass in state administration is the principle of ‘Let the people live so that the state lives’. We cannot allow the slightest compromise or deviation from this principle, which is the main pillar of our state.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at the drawing ceremony for the 109th Term District Governorship Course in Ankara.

President Erdoğan congratulated those who successfully completed the course. Stating that 97 young district governor candidates, 14 of whom are women, will be appointed, President Erdoğan said that all 922 districts of 81 provinces in Türkiye are valuable, important and worthy of first-class services.

“TÜRKİYE IS A STATE OF LAW”

“We as a nation have established many great states throughout history. From the steppes of Asia to the fiery deserts of Africa, from the Mediterranean to the Indian Ocean, our galloping horses resounded across millions of square kilometers of land. In our states, whose borders once stretched from Africa to the remote corners of Europe and Asia, we ruled millions of people of different faiths in peace, tranquility and well-being. The states we established in history had two supporting pillars. The first of these was justice, which is the foundation of state, and the other was compassion. The same is true today,” President Erdoğan said.

“Türkiye is a state of law and our civilization is a civilization of compassion. To the extent that we exalt justice, we elevate the state, and to the extent that we treat with compassion, we strengthen the bond between our people and our state. If the gap between the state and the nation is widened, then the services we provide as public institutions will have no meaning. We are a country that has experienced both in its recent history,” President Erdoğan underlined.

A ‘bureaucratic oligarchy’ that looks down on its citizens and sees some citizens as a source of threat has no place in our vision of the state. The state is at the service of the nation and the public servant is a servant of the nation. Our guide and compass in state administration is the principle of ‘Let the people live so that the state lives’. This is the fundamental principle that sustained and supported the Ottoman Empire for 6 centuries. We cannot allow the slightest compromise or deviation from this principle, which is the main pillar of our state,” President Erdoğan said.
