“The TRNC Republic Complex is a symbol of the determination of the Turkish Cypriot people”

 

Speaking at the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the TRNC Presidential and Republic Assembly Complex in Lefkoşa, President Erdoğan said: “The TRNC Republic Complex is a symbol of the determination of the Turkish Cypriot people. It is also a manifestation of the state’s will to exist in the face of injustice and lawlessness. It is also an indication of the shared destiny between Türkiye and our Northern Cyprus.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Presidential and Republic Assembly Complex of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in Lefkoşa.

Upon his arrival at the Complex, President Erdoğan was welcomed with an official ceremony by the TRNC President Ersin Tatar. After saluting the guard of honor, President Erdoğan and the TRNC President Tatar cut the opening ribbon and inaugurated the Complex.

Delivering a speech at the ceremony, President Erdoğan said: “Today, we are placing yet another seal on this land. We are delivering another magnificent work to the Turkish Cypriot people.”

“We are not holding an ordinary opening ceremony here today. We are also declaring our will, our determination and our love for freedom. Our Republic Complex project is one of the sources of pride of Northern Cyprus. Our Complex, which we started building in 2022, will host the Presidential Building, the Republic Assembly, the Supreme Court and the Nation’s Garden on an area of 639 thousand 475 square meters. In the first stage, we are inaugurating the Presidential Building and the Republic Assembly today. Inshallah, we will then open the Nation’s Garden, the Nation’s Mosque and the Supreme Court buildings. Thus, we will have built an edifice worthy of the rising prestige of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in Lefkoşa,” President Erdoğan said.

“The TRNC Republic Complex is a symbol of the determination of the Turkish Cypriot people. It is also a manifestation of the state’s will to exist in the face of injustice and lawlessness. It is also an indication of the shared destiny between Türkiye and our Northern Cyprus. Upon this solid foundation, we will, inshallah, build new accomplishments and new edifices. We will continue our struggle for independence and future in a stronger manner. Those who try to undermine our brotherhood, to drive a wedge between us, to sow seeds of hatred in this fertile land instead of peace and tranquility will fail. I wholeheartedly believe that this complex will house decisions that will carry the Turkish Cypriots forward. I would like to thank each and every one of you for your love and commitment. I want you to know that Türkiye will always be, just as it has been in the past, with you whenever you need it, today and tomorrow. We will continue to provide strong support in all areas, from strengthening relations with the Turkic world to ending the unjust isolation of the Turkish Cypriots,” President Erdoğan said.
