“The Turkish judiciary makes decisions only on behalf of the Turkish nation”

Addressing the Appointment Ceremony of Judges and Public Prosecutors, President Erdoğan said: “The Turkish judiciary makes decisions only on behalf of the Turkish nation. No one can intimidate those who decide on behalf of the Turkish nation. The Turkish judiciary shattered the walls of fear on the night of July 15.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at the Appointment Ceremony of Judges and Public Prosecutors in Ankara.
Noting that the judiciary’s decisions can be criticized only on the condition of staying within the bounds of courtesy, and objections can be raised within the scope of laws, President Erdoğan said: “In the past, we also criticized some decisions of the courts and higher judicial bodies, expressing our reservations and openly sharing with the public the aspects we don’t find right. However, we always remained within the scope of the law even while fighting the overtly unlawful acts targeting ourselves and our party.”
“NO ONE CAN INTIMIDATE THOSE DECIDING ON BEHALF OF THE TURKISH NATION”
President Erdoğan continued his remarks as follows: “We have never attempted to point fingers at the judiciary, discredit it, or threaten legal professionals fulfilling their duty. We still maintain this stance today as well. It is our collective responsibility to help the judiciary carry out its duty properly, justly, and accurately. It is sheer irresponsibility to turn judicial processes into fodder for politics and place judges and prosecutes under pressure, particularly by making them targets over their children and families. The Turkish judiciary makes decisions only on behalf of the Turkish nation. No one can intimidate those deciding on behalf of the Turkish nation. The Turkish judiciary shattered the walls of fear on the night of July 15.”
