“Türkiye has the capacity to handle all kinds of international sports events”
Addressing the Opening of UEFA’s Istanbul Office, President Erdoğan said: “Türkiye has more than enough capacity to handle all kinds of international sports events, including the Olympics. We have taken Türkiye to a higher league in sports investments.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at the opening of UEFA Istanbul Office.
“I believe that Istanbul, which has been home to difference faiths for centuries, will further consolidate its multicultural identity with the opening of UEFA Istanbul Office,” President Erdoğan stated.
“WE WILL INCREASE OUR ENGAGEMENTS AND JOINT PROJECTS WITH UEFA FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF TURKISH FOOTBALL”
President Erdoğan said: “Türkiye has more than enough capacity to handle all kinds of international sports events, including the Olympics. We speak with such self-confidence not out of vanity but because of the services and projects we have introduced in our country over the past 23 years. We have taken Türkiye to a higher league in sports investments. We have opened new sports facilities in accordance with our cities’ needs. We have increased the total number of sports facilities from 1,575 to 4,470.”
President Erdoğan went on: “We have worked in a spirit of mobilization for 23 years to make sure that sports are fully appreciated in our country and the sports infrastructure in Türkiye reaches world standards. All these efforts have now been taken to next level with the opening of UEFA Istanbul Office. This is the only UEFA office opened after the ones in London and Brussels. By means of this office, we will increase our engagements and joint projects with UEFA for the development of Turkish football.”

President Erdoğan added: “Before ending my remarks, I would like to extend my best wishes to all our citizens impacted by the earthquake that occurred yesterday. We received the most up-to-date information during an AFAD meeting later yesterday attended by relevant ministers and officials, and gave the necessary instructions. Our main source of consolidation is that there is no loss of life. All our state units are working in a spirit of mobilization.”
