Speaking at the National Afforestation Day event, President Erdoğan said: “We are taking necessary steps in line with our 2053 Net Zero Emission target and Green Development Initiative. We have planted 7.5 billion saplings and seeds in the past 23 years. We have increased our forest assets to 23.4 million hectares. Today, 30 per cent of our country is covered with forests.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at the National Afforestation Day event held in the Etimesgut district of Ankara.

Drawing attention to a United Nations report ranking Türkiye sixth among the countries that increased its forest area the most in 2020, President Erdoğan noted that according to the same report, Türkiye rose to fourth place in the world in 2025.
