According to current figures, we have thus far made TL146.7 billion worth of public investment in the area of transportation in Konya.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan inaugurated the 2nd Section of Konya Beltway.
Delivering remarks at the opening ceremony, President Erdoğan said: “We have been working day and night since we came to power to be worthy of our brothers and sisters from Konya by pursuing politics of services and projects. All our means and resources have been mobilized to boost production and employment as well as to ensure the city develops in a balanced manner. We are adding on a daily basis a new one to our projects, investments and services that would contribute to the economic, trade, and agricultural development of Konya and the region. One of our main priorities is the development of the road, rail, and air transportation network in Konya, which lies at the intersection of east-west and north-south transportation routes.”
President Erdoğan stated: “According to current figures, we have thus far made TL146.7 billion worth of public investment in the area of transportation in Konya. We have connected Konya to Ankara and Eskişehir in the north; to Isparta, Afyonkarahisar and thence to İzmir in the west; to Aksaray, Niğde and thence to Kayseri in the east; and to Antalya, Karaman and Mersin in the south with divided roads.”
“WE CARRY ON WITH OUR ROAD INVESTMENTS THAT WOULD CONSOLIDATE KONYA’S STATUS AS A HUB IN URBAN AND INTERCITY TRANSPORTATION”
President Erdoğan continued his remarks as follows: “We carry on with our road investments that would consolidate Konya’s status as a hub in urban and intercity transportation, while also boosting its capacity in agriculture, trade and industry. The 122-kilometer-long Konya Beltway, comprised of three sections that are 22, 46 and 54 kilometers in length, respectively, is among the most significant investments we have introduced in the city. Transferring Konya’s transit traffic burden to the beltway, the project will ease the congestion in the old beltway that is inside the city now. With the project, we will ensure a fast and safe traffic flow to the tourism and trade centers across our country and will have diversified the transportation routes in the city. We will therefore significantly contribute to the economic, social and trade development in Konya. We completed the first section of the project and opened it to traffic back in 2020. And today, we are opening to transportation and putting into service the 30-kilometer-long segment of the second section between Afyonkarahisar and Aksaray.”
