“We trust and support our youth in all areas”
Speaking at the 7th Ordinary Congress of AK Party’s Youth Branches, President Erdoğan said: “We, together with our youth, are building a Türkiye where young people can live comfortably and express themselves freely. We trust and support our youth in every aspect of life.”
President and Justice and Development (AK) Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at the 7th Ordinary Congress of AK Party’s Youth Branches in Ankara.
“In every field you can think of, in education, politics, bureaucracy, civil society and the business world, we have realized reforms, projects and investments that paved the way for our youth and opened up new horizons for them. There was a dress code ban, we lifted it. There was injustice with regard to coefficients, we put an end to it. Persuasion rooms were set up in front of university gates, we demolished them. It was forbidden to work in public sector with headscarf, we allowed it. There was pressure on signboards, keyboards and languages, we ended it. We, together with our youth, are building a Türkiye where young people can live comfortably and express themselves freely. We trust and support our youth in every aspect of life,” President Erdoğan said.
Thanking all the young people, who are contributing to building a great and powerful Türkiye, and advancing towards the goals of the Century of Türkiye, President Erdoğan said: “In 2002, there were only 76 universities in our country. We opened 132 new universities and increased the number of universities to 208. When we took office, the number of youth centers was only 9, today this number has reached 522. We have increased the number of higher education dormitories from 190 to 862. We have inaugurated comfortable, safe and modern dormitories with a bed capacity of nearly one million. In 2002, scholarships and student loans amounting to TL45 were given to undergraduate students, TL90 to graduate students and TL135 to doctoral students. Today, we provide scholarship and loan support of TL3000 to undergraduate students, TL6000 to graduate students and TL9000 to doctoral students.”
“WE HAVE NEARLY 340 THOUSAND GUEST STUDENTS FROM MORE THAN 190 COUNTRIES”
President Erdoğan stated that 22 years ago, the total number of academic staff at universities was 70 thousand, while today this number has exceeded 184 thousand.
Stating that they have opened the doors of higher education institutions wide open to international students from different countries of the world, President Erdoğan said: “While the number of international students was 15 thousand 505 in 2002, we now have nearly 340 thousand guest students from more than 190 countries in the world.”
Noting that they encouraged high school and university students to develop new products and projects by launching TEKONOFEST, a national technology initiative, President Erdoğan voiced his pride in our young engineers working in more than 3,500 companies in the defense industry.
“WE ARE APPROACHING OUR GOAL OF A TERROR-FREE TÜRKIYE”
“Our fight against terrorism, which has been feeding off of our nation’s blood like a leech for 40 years, continues in a multidimensional manner. The end of the road has been seen for the terrorist barons who kidnap the youth of this country to the mountains, sometimes by force, sometimes by deception. We are approaching our goal of a ‘terror-free Türkiye' step by step. We will not allow our young people to be lost between the savage cogs of terrorism for whatever reason. We will eliminate this scourge brought upon us by the imperialists, disrupt their forty years of games, and build our bright future together by drawing strength and inspiration from our thousand years of brotherhood in these lands. We will establish a climate in our country and beyond where not only certain groups but all 85 million people, Turks, Kurds and Arabs alike, will win,” President Erdoğan said.
President Erdoğan emphasized that they will continue to work for a Türkiye where young people live side by side in peace, tranquility and brotherhood and look to their future with confidence, and that they, together with the youth, will endeavor to realize this aim.
