“Our wish is for the new administration to maintain a direction that embraces every segment of the Syrian people”

Addressing the 15th Ambassadors’ Conference, President Erdoğan said: “Our wish is for the new administration to maintain a direction that integrates and embraces every segment of the Syrian people. As Türkiye, we will continue to stand with the Syrian people in the new period, as well.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered remarks at the 15th Ambassadors’ Conference in Ankara.

“WE ARE GOING THROUGH A DIFFICULT PERIOD WHEN MULTILATERAL GOVERNANCE MECHANISMS ARE UNABLE TO PRODUCE SOLUTIONS”

Noting that Türkiye marked its 100th anniversary last year, President Erdoğan said: “The Foreign Ministry has important duties for the realization, at a regional and global scale, of the goals of the Century of Türkiye, which we have set for the establishment of peace, calm, prosperity and stability both in our region and in the world.”

“We are going through a difficult period when the global system is in deadlock, international community loses its reflexes, and multilateral governance mechanisms are unable to produce solutions. International organizations and bodies responsible for ensuring international peace and security pave the way for new conflicts and problems through their passivity, let alone prevent wars and conflicts. In this adverse environment, building our foreign policy paradigm on a more effective, more dynamic and sustainable foundation is of critical importance for our country’s future,” President Erdoğan stated.

“THE AMBASSADORS’ CONFERENCE IS A VERY VALUABLE PLATFORM WHERE ALL ASPECTS OF OUR FOREIGN POLICY ARE ADDRESSED WITH A STRATEGIC APPROACH”

Noting that the culture of consultation and negotiation is necessary more than ever today in order to address, through common mind, the threats and challenges Türkiye faces, President Erdoğan said: “In this regard, the Ambassadors’ Conference is a very valuable platform where all aspects of our foreign policy are addressed with a strategic approach. Let me draw your attention to the fact that multipolar tendencies and regionalization movements are becoming increasingly more visible in international relations. As the center of gravity on the global arena is shifting from the West to Asia, we all feel the impacts of the fracture in this fault line. Crises and conflicts that erupt in Eurasia and Middle East put global peace and stability at grave jeopardy.”

“THE PATH THE ISRAELI GOVERNMENT IS FOLLOWING PERSISTENTLY AND STUBBORNLY IS NOT A RIGHT PATH”

“A historic responsibility falls on the Turkish Foreign Ministry and its esteemed members to stop massacres and end instabilities, starting with the ones in our surrounding region. The massacre in Gaza and occupied Palestinian territories, which has killed over 50 thousand people, 70 percent of whom are women and children, in 14 months has yet to be stopped. The current Israeli administration adds a new one to its aggressions every single day, further aggravating the problems in the region. The international community’s indifference to these massacres increasingly undermines, erodes and liquidates the basic legal principles and values that keep the system alive. This must be stopped.”

Underlining that security cannot be achieved by shedding more blood and dropping more bombs on innocent civilians, President Erdoğan stated: “I say it clearly that the path the Israeli government is following persistently and stubbornly is not a right path. This is so for Syria, too, as much as for Gaza and Palestine.”

“IT IS HIGH TIME FOR GLOBAL POWERS WITH INFLUENCE OVER ISRAEL TO TAKE INITIATIVE FOR A WINDOW OF PEACE TO BE OPENED IN GAZA”

Pointing out that Türkiye has been calling for a permanent ceasefire and lasting peace for 14 months, President Erdoğan added that the changing dynamics in the region are now more favorable for this than ever before.

“Türkiye stands ready to put it all on the line for the sake of ending the sea of blood in Gaza,” President Erdoğan emphasized. “We believe that it is high time for global powers with influence over Israel to take initiative for a window of peace to be opened in Gaza, too. An outcome will of course be achieved if a sincere will is displayed instead of engaging in stalling tactics.”

“SYRIA HAS EXPERIENCED A MASSIVE TRANSFORMATION IN THE LAST 10 DAYS”

Drawing attention to the massive transformation Syria has experienced in the last 10 days, President Erdoğan stated: “The Assad regime fled Syria, leaving behind a massive debris full of massacres, destruction and barbarism. Tyrants have lost and been defeated; innocents have won once again. The evil that raged in Syria with blood and tears for 61 years has now come to an end. I hope the most difficult period in this country has become a thing of the past as of Sunday.”

Emphasizing that Türkiye has always advocated for justice and the implementation of an inclusive and comprehensive system since the first day of the Syrian conflict, President Erdoğan said: “Türkiye wide opened both its doors and heart to its Syrian brothers and sisters when the massacres first started. The rightfulness of the humanitarian policies our government has pursued for 13 years despite all the obstructions, unjust criticisms, and assassinations of reputation has been validated for good. A true wall didn’t collapse, as our ancestors said; and Türkiye has embarrassed itself neither before its own citizens nor before its Syrian brothers and sisters.”

“TÜRKİYE WILL CONTINUE TO STAND WITH THE SYRIAN PEOPLE IN THE NEW PERIOD”

“The outrageous footages and tragic human stories coming from Syrian prisons explain why the Syrian people had to leave their homes in the first place, why they didn’t trust Assad’s so-called amnesties, and why they have been unwilling to return their country. We see that what used to be called prisons were actually, excuse my words, human slaughterhouses,” said President Erdoğan, adding that not everything is over in Syria yet, with many future challenges awaiting Syrians, particularly the reconstruction and revival of the country.

President Erdoğan continued his remarks as follows: “We wholeheartedly believe that our Syrian brothers and sisters, who won the fight against a bloody and brutal regime, will be successful. Our wish is for the new administration to maintain a direction that integrates and embraces every segment of the Syrian people. As Türkiye, we will continue to stand with the Syrian people in the new period, as well. We will support our Syrian brothers and sisters in any field they need. Likewise, any development unfolding in Iraq also will have repercussions in our country and region. The preservation of Iraq’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, just like that of Syria, is of critical importance to us. We work closely with our partners in order to make this country the new route of transportation roads through our Development Road Project. Our joint fight against the terrorist organization PKK, which threatens the security and perpetuity of both countries, will continue without any concession.”

“TÜRKİYE HAS PRIORITIZED THE ESTABLISHMENT OF PEACE IN THE RUSSIA-UKRAINE WAR”

Noting that cards were reshuffled in the world with the Russia-Ukraine war, which will enter its 4th year in February, President Erdoğan stressed that Türkiye, pursuing a balanced policy in this war, has prioritized the establishment of a just peace, and went onto say: “We have worked to extinguish the fire rather than pouring fuel to it. We will maintain this stance in the period ahead, as well.”

President Erdoğan added that Turkish Ambassador Feridun Sinirlioğlu’s appointment as the Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) will contribute to Türkiye’s efforts for the establishment of peace.
