Addressing the TÜBA and TÜBİTAK Awards Ceremony in Ankara, President Erdoğan said: “We are advancing with firm steps towards the goal of a great and strong Türkiye that leads the age. As the country and the nation, we stand strong and take our steps decisively.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at the TÜBA and TÜBİTAK Awards Ceremony in Ankara.

“WE AIM TO ELEVATE TÜRKİYE TO A STRATEGIC POSITION IN GLOBAL COMPETITION”

Drawing attention to Türkiye’s achievements in science and technology such as the country’s first-ever electric car TOGG, fifth generation fighter jet KAAN, and unmanned aerial vehicles, President Erdoğan singled out Türkiye’s first-ever quantum computer, unveiled last month, as one of the most recent breakthroughs.

Noting that quantum computers can solve the most complicated problems in just a couple of minutes and that currently only 15 countries are in possession of this technology, President Erdoğan said: “With the critical step we have taken in quantum computer technology, we aim to elevate Türkiye to a strategic position in global competition. With the superconductor chip foundry we will establish in the upcoming period, we will pave the way for much higher-capacity quantum computers.”

“WE WILL REALIZE OUR VISION OF AN INDEPENDENT TÜRKİYE IN EVERY AREA VERY SOON”

Underscoring that there is no place for despair and helplessness in the book of the Turkish nation, President Erdoğan said: “Although it has been difficult and taken a lot of time, we have managed to do away with the learned helplessness imposed upon our nation over decades.” 

Stressing the importance of developing original ideas and projects to be to truly free and independent, President Erdoğan stated: “We need to draw up our own route not only in politics and diplomacy but also in science and technology. Just as we transcend the patterns and roles tried to be imposed on us in politics, foreign policy and defense, we also endeavor to write our own story in science and technology with our own national technology initiative. We want to unleash our own resources, capabilities and potential at a maximum level rather than rely on others in technology, science, art and thought. We will realize our vision of an independent Türkiye in every area very soon.” 

“WE STAND STRONG AND TAKE OUR STEPS DECISIVELY”

Noting that the youth in Türkiye are encouraged to run after new discoveries with the TEKNOFEST competitions, President Erdoğan added: “With research project competitions and national and international science olympics, we are preparing our children for the future in the areas of science and entrepreneurship. We are advancing with firm steps towards the goal of a great and strong Türkiye that leads the age, not lags behind it. We do not want to settle for temporary achievements that disappear like soap bubbles. As the country and the nation, we stand strong and take our steps decisively. We are making our plans for the medium and long term.”

President Erdoğan continued his remarks as follows: “We are in a much better position today than we were in 2002. And, we will be at a much better level in the future. We will achieve this not only for ourselves but also for those who pin their hopes on us. Recent incidents in our region, particularly in Syria, remind us of the fact that Türkiye is bigger than Türkiye. As the nation, we cannot limit our horizon to 782 thousand square kilometers. Just as a person cannot escape his fate, Türkiye and the Turkish nation also cannot escape or hide from their fate. We are obligated to see, accept, and act according to the mission history has entrusted to us as the nation.”
