“We have ensured the security of our state”

 

Speaking at the Police Academy Graduation Ceremony, President Erdoğan said: “With the reforms we have implemented since 2002, we have eliminated the mindset that placed security right opposite law and democracy. By preserving the delicate balance between security and freedoms, we have sought to ensure the security of our state and the peace of our nation. We are meticulously upholding this same principle today as well.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at the Police Academy Graduation Ceremony in the Gölbaşı district of Ankara.

“With the reforms we have implemented since 2002, we have eliminated the mindset that placed security right opposite law and democracy,” President Erdoğan said, and added: “By preserving the delicate balance between security and freedoms, we have sought to ensure the security of our state and the peace of our nation. We are meticulously upholding this same principle today as well. We both ensure our security and endeavor to do it by protecting rights and freedoms within the boundaries drawn by the state of law without compromising democracy.”

Underscoring that he expects the new graduates of the Police Academy to act with this sensitivity while performing their duties in line with the law, President Erdoğan stated: “This is also our nation’s expectation from you. Our working principle is pretty obvious: You will never tolerate the despicable who threaten our citizens’ lives, property, dignity, freedoms, or security. You will arrest whoever crosses the line by committing a crime, and ensure that they receive the punishment they deserve by bringing them to justice.”

Drawing attention to Türkiye’s anti-terror fight, President Erdoğan noted: “A total of 34,765 operations, 4,877 of them in urban areas and 29,918 in rural areas, were carried out against PKK/KCK in the past year alone. A total of 1,045 terrorists, seven of them in red category, one in green, 15 in orange and 34 in gray, were neutralized during these operations.”

Underscoring that Türkiye crushes FETO, DAESH and leftist terrorist organizations as well, President Erdoğan stressed that operations aimed at deciphering the secret organization of FETO and removing the remnants of it in the state continue uninterruptedly, and added: “A total of 5,827 operations were carried out against FETO last year alone, and 9,350 suspects were detained.”
