“We take every opportunity to make Türkiye a regional and global center of gravity”

 

Speaking at the International Contracting Services Award Ceremony, President Erdoğan said: “We take every opportunity to make Türkiye a regional and global center of gravity. We seek to keep the windows of opportunities open with every structure and actor amid the diversifying and increasing regional blocs in the international system.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at the Turkish Contractors Association International Contracting Services Award Ceremony in Ankara.

Stating that the balances shaken by the coronavirus pandemic have yet to be restored, President Erdoğan stated that while the repercussions of the war in the north have not been healed, the tension increased due to Israel’s attacks in Gaza remains to be a grave source of concern.

President Erdoğan said: “Each day we face a new crisis, a new political instability or conflict in different geographies of the world, from Africa to Asia. We know that all these incidents propel countries to protectiveness and to act extremely cautious in terms of new investments. Many developed economies, including Europe, have lowered their growth expectation and have revised their growth rates downwards. We deem it to be very valuable that Turkish companies keep the momentum they have achieved despite all the difficulties they are faced with.”

President Erdoğan stressed: “While the world changes and new centers of power emerge in economy, production and technology, we have to adapt ourselves to this. Türkiye’s discovery of new routes to itself in foreign policy is not an effort to be criticized, but to be appreciated and praised. Asking, ‘What is Türkiye doing in Africa, Latin America or Asia?’ is a wrong analysis of global politics. We are aware that there are still those who insist on not understanding our foreign policy, our stance on regional and global matters, or who understand but insist on distorting it. We never pay heed to them. We take every opportunity to make Türkiye a regional and global center of gravity. We seek to keep the windows of opportunities open with every structure and actor amid the diversifying and increasing regional blocs in the international system.”
