82nd anniversary of Atatürk’s passing to eternity

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the ceremony held at Anıtkabir on the 82nd anniversary of the passing of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey.

The ceremony at Anıtkabir (Atatürk’s Mausoleum) began as high-ranking state officials walked on the Lion Road. President Erdoğan and other high-ranking officials laid wreaths at Atatürk’s mausoleum and observed a moment of silence at 09:05 a.m. at Anıtkabir.

After the national anthem was sung, President Erdoğan wrote the following in the Anıtkabir Special Book at Misak-ı Millî Tower:

“We commemorate with grace Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the Chief Commander of our War of Independence, the founder of our Republic and our first President, on the 82nd anniversary of his passing. Our people will remember with gratitude Ghazi Mustafa Kemal and his gallant brothers-in-arms, who crowned our nation’s fight for survival with victory and left us an independent and free country. We will make our Republic, built upon the sacrifices of our martyrs, live forever, and continue to work to leave a more prosperous, stronger and more reputable country to next generations. May you rest in peace.”
