“As Turks, Arabs, Kurds, Sunnis and Alawites, we are friends and guardians of each other”

Delivering remarks following the Presidential Cabinet Meeting, President Erdoğan said: “We have lived together and shared the same destiny in this geography for thousands of years. We will inshallah continue to live here side by side forever. As Turks, Arabs, Kurds, Sunnis and Alawites, we are friends and guardians of each other, and share the same destiny.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a press conference following the Presidential Cabinet meeting at the Presidential Complex.
“WE ONCE AGAIN EXTEND OUR MESSAGES OF SOLIDARITY AND AFFECTION TO OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN SYRIA AND GAZA”
President Erdoğan said: “In our neighbor Syria, our brothers and sisters are welcoming the holy month of Ramadan without the fear of bombs dropping on top of them for the first time following 14 years of oppression. Likewise, our Gazan brothers and sisters, who met the last Ramadan under Israel’s atrocious attacks, are able to breathe a sigh of relief after 471 days in a fragile atmosphere enabled by the ceasefire. We once again extend our messages of solidarity and affection to our brothers and sisters in Syria and Gaza. I wholeheartedly wish for this Ramadan to lead to peace and tranquility in our country as well as in our region and beyond.”
“WE CONDEMN ALL ACTS OF TERROR AND INTIMIDATION TARGETING SYRIA’S UNITY AND SOCIAL PEACE”
Drawing attention to the latest incidents in Syria, President Erdoğan stated: “We are witnessing that the incidents have largely been brought under control through the effective intervention of the Syrian government forces but that the situation on the ground remains sensitive. Let me openly express that As Türkiye, we condemn in the strongest terms possible all attacks and all acts of terror and intimidation that target Syria’s unity, solidarity and social peace. In the meantime, we are taking necessary measures to prevent any development against our country. Also, we are offering our advises to the Syrian authorities to ease the tension in the country as soon as possible. We welcome President Al-Sharaa’s moderate, conciliatory and determined messages suggesting that those violating laws will be punished.”
Stressing that Mr. Al-Sharaa has been following an inclusive and embracing policy without falling into the trap of revanchism since December 8, President Erdoğan noted: “Maintaining this policy will disrupt the plots against Syria. We sincerely hope that Syria can achieve the environment of lasting peace and tranquility it has been missing for decades as soon as possible. I believe that all the Syrian people, including Arabs, Turkmens, Kurds, Druze and Nusayris, will act wisely and not allow those seeking to engulf the country in disintegration and instability.”
“UNITY AND SOLIDARITY IS THE KEY TO PEACE IN OUR REGION”
“We have lived together and shared the same destiny in this geography for thousands of years. We will inshallah continue to live here side by side forever. As Turks, Arabs, Kurds, Sunnis and Alawites, we are friends and guardians of each other, and share the same destiny. So long as we keep division away from our gates, those feeding on Muslims’ blood and tears can achieve nothing. Yet, no one can rescue us if we fall out with one another. Unity and solidarity is the key to peace in our region,” President Erdoğan stressed.
Noting that Türkiye has successfully passed the test of brotherhood both in Syria and Gaza, President Erdoğan stated: “In the new period, we will continue to provide our neighbor Syria with every kind of support in our power for the country’s recovery and for it to achieve peace with all its ethnic and sectarian groups. Just as we have not allowed any surgical operation on our country’s lands, we will not allow any scheme regarding the lands of Syria, either.”
“THERE CAN BE NO LASTING PEACE WITHOUT THE INVOLVEMENT OF RUSSIA AND UKRAINE”
Touching upon the recent developments in the Russia-Ukraine war, President Erdoğan said: “The latest debates within the context of Ukraine seem to raise concerns among EU member states. To be honest, the EU is trying to handle one of the greatest security challenges in the recent period. The importance of the balanced, coherent and principled stance Türkiye has displayed from the very beginning of the war is being better understood today. We emphasize at every opportunity that there can be no lasting peace without the involvement of Russia and Ukraine.”
“WE WANT TO STRENGTHEN OUR RELATIONS WITH THE EU WITH AN APPROACH FOCUSED ON FULL MEMBERSHIP”
President Erdoğan added: “We want to strengthen our relations with the EU on the basis of common interests and mutual respect and with an approach focused on full membership. We would like to remind them once more that Türkiye is the last exit before the bridge. We expect our European friends to understand Türkiye’s role in the world that is being restructured and determine their strategies accordingly. I believe that once a unity of understanding is established, the relations between Türkiye and Europe will rapidly flourish in all areas.”
