“Hydrocarbon resources should contribute to peace, tranquility and prosperity in the island”

 

Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Dönmez met with TRNC President Mustafa Akıncı.

Fatih Dönmez said the issue of hydrocarbon resources should contribute to peace, tranquility and prosperity in the island.

“Unfortunately, the Greek Cypriot side has unilaterally continued its discourse and actions behaving as the sole judge of the island,” Dönmez said.

Turkey has consistently contested the Greek Cypriot administration’s unilateral drilling in the Eastern Mediterranean, asserting that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) also has similar rights on the resources in the area.

At this point, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and our government continue to support the protection of the rights and interests of the Turkish Cypriots on every platform, Donmez added.
