“It is high time for global decision-making mechanisms to adapt to the changing dynamics of the world”

Addressing an iftar dinner with foreign ambassadors in Ankara, President Erdoğan said: “It is high time for global decision-making mechanisms to adapt to the changing dynamics of the world. Muslims, who make up a quarter of the world's population, need to be represented in decision-making processes as they deserve.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan shared an iftar dinner with foreign ambassadors in Ankara.

“The struggle we have been waging under the motto, the World is bigger than five, is aimed at replacing the existing global system, which itself produces problems let alone solve them, with a more inclusive structure. Let me once again express it openly that it is high time for global decision-making mechanisms to adapt to the changing dynamics of the world. Muslims, who make up a quarter of the world’s population, need to be represented in decision-making processes as they deserve. It is no longer just a necessity but a must that an Islamic country with veto power be included in the United Nations Security Council,” President Erdoğan said.

“FORMULAS EXCLUDING EITHER OF THE WARRING PARTIES ARE DOOMED TO FAILURE”

Drawing attention to Türkiye’s efforts to prevent loss of civilian lives in Ukraine, President Erdoğan underlined that Ankara stands ready to provide all sorts of support including hosting the negotiations, and stated: “We maintain our support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, while also believing that a solution cannot be achieved by excluding Russia or Ukraine. We have been striving to find a solution to the crisis since day one, refraining from adding fuel to the fire. Through initiatives such as the Istanbul Process, Black Sea Grain Initiative, and prisoner swaps, we have shown that negotiations and reconciliation are possible even under war circumstances. We have stressed at every opportunity that formulas excluding either of the warring parties are doomed to failure.”

“ISRAEL WILL NOT FIND THE PEACE IT SEEKS WITHOUT THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN INDEPENDENT STATE OF PALESTINE”

Pointing out that the people of Palestine entered this Ramadan with the pain of losing over 61 thousand lives, President Erdoğan stated: “Hopes that rekindled with the temporary ceasefire has started to wane yet again because of Israel’s spoiled actions disregarding law. The Netanyahu administration is exploring every method to exploit the already fragile ceasefire agreement. As if calls to annex the West Bank were not enough, Israeli officials are playing with fire by inciting against Al-Aqsa Mosque. Today, I want to once again emphasize to those concerned that our first Qibla, Al-Aqsa Mosque, is our red line.”

President Erdoğan went on: “I would like to re-emphasize that Israel cannot ensure its own security by producing instability in the region. Israel will not find the peace it seeks without the establishment of an independent and territorially-integral State of Palestine, based on the 1967 borders. Just as we will continue to support the Palestinian people, we will also continue our efforts to ensure that the historical status of Al-Quds, particularly that of Al-Haram Al-Sharif, is respected.”

Underscoring that a new era has begun in Syria with the overthrow of the Assad regime on December 8, President Erdoğan stated: “Our biggest desire is the reconstruction of a Syria with territorial integrity and political unity where different identities live together peacefully and which is a source of security and stability for all of its neighbors. Appreciating the new administration’s efforts for the formation of such a Syria, we provide them with all the necessary support.”

“WE SEE OUR MEMBERSHIP PROCESS IN THE EUROPEAN UNION AS OUR STRATEGIC PRIORITY”

Drawing attention to Türkiye’s intensifying efforts for prosperity and stability in the South Caucasus, President Erdoğan said: “As we advance the normalization process with Armenia, we also wait for an agreement to be reached for the establishment of permanent peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia. We desire the protection of the environment of stability in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Aegean. We advocate for the preservation of the positive atmosphere that we achieved in our relations with Greece, our neighbor. We offer every contribution in our power to preserve stability in the Balkans. We enjoy close relations in every area with the brotherly republics in Central Asia, our fatherland. We have further deepened our relations through the Organization of Turkic States. Our policies in Asia, Latin America and Africa yield concrete outcomes in our relations with distant geographies that are near to our hearts.”

President Erdoğan added: “As an inseparable part of Europe, we see our membership process in the European Union as our strategic priority. Recent developments have once again demonstrated the importance of the relations between Türkiye and the European Union. It is becoming increasingly impossible for Europe, which does not include Türkiye as it deserves, to continue its presence as a global actor. To put it plainly, establishing European security in the absence of Türkiye is inconceivable. We expect our European friends to face this reality and move forward with our full membership process with a visionary perspective.”
