“It is high time for the international community to repay its debt to the Palestinian people”
Addressing the International Forum on Peace and Trust, President Erdoğan said: “We consider it essential that Palestinians are included in and contribute to all stages aimed at establishing peace. The ultimate goal is a two-state solution. The formula for this is laid out in the sufferings endured by our Palestinian brothers and sisters, in their dignified struggle, and in international regulations. It is high time for the international community to repay its debt to the Palestinian people.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at the International Forum on Peace and Trust in Turkmenistan.
“I extend my most heartfelt congratulations to the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, my precious brother who gave meaning and shape to the country’s permanent neutrality status, and offer my gratitude to my brother Serdar for gathering us together on this important day. Congratulating the Turkmen people from the bottom of my heart on the Neutrality Day, I would like to convey you the regards of your 86 million brothers and sisters in Türkiye,” President Erdoğan said.
“WE STAND READY TO DO OUR PART FOR TURKMENISTAN’S WELFARE”
“We find today’s forum very meaningful within the context of the International Year of Peace and Trust 2025, co-sponsored by Türkiye at the United Nations,” President Erdoğan stated. “We take pride and joy in every success of Turkmenistan, which has realized a massive development economically and socially since its proclamation of independence. Having reached a position of being one of the fastest-growing countries in today’s world, Turkmenistan has become a modern exemplary country with its cities, factories, schools and hospitals. Türkiye and Turkmenistan are two brotherly countries firmly banded together with unique ties that draw strength from shared history. Türkiye and Turkmenistan are two brotherly nations that share the same origins and carry the same spirt and faith. As the first country to recognize Turkmenistan’s independence, we are also the primary country to support its permanent neutrality status. It is visible that this status, which Turkmenistan has maintained for 30 years, has been forged with the peace and friendship spirit of our civilization, extending from Magtymguly Pyragy to Yunus Emre to Ismail Bey Gaspirali. Just like our proverbs, our hearts and destinations are one with Turkmenistan. While supporting Turkmenistan’s peaceful vision, we also advance our relations in all areas and further strengthen our solidarity. We, with our social relations, crown the works we carry out in numerous areas such as investments, trade, energy, defense and many more. As always, we stand ready to do our part for Turkmenistan’s welfare in the future as well.”
“WE ARE WORKING TO ENSURE THE PREVALENCE OF PEACE”
“At a time of increased uncertainties, conflicts and fragilities at a global scale, we need to share the burden for the establishment of international dialogue, cooperation, trust and peace,” President Erdoğan stressed. “As Türkiye, with a sense of responsibility instilled by our history, geography, and civilization, we are working with all our strength to ensure the prevalence of peace and dialogue. We are endeavoring to form a belt of peace and security around us by pursuing good relations with our neighbors. We sincerely wish an end to the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, our northern neighbors with whom we have relations built on ancient ties and mutual respect. We are ready to provide concrete contributions to the diplomatic initiatives aimed at a ceasefire and peace, first and foremost the Istanbul process.”
“PERMANENCE OF THE CEASEFIRE IN GAZA IS OUR TOP PRIORITY”
President Erdoğan continued as follows: “Last year in Gaza, we witnessed one of the last century’s most brutal massacres. The permanence of the ceasefire and access to humanitarian aid by those in need constitute our top priorities in Gaza. The ceasefire that holds despite Israel’s violations is fragile. Therefore, strong support from the international community for the process is essential and must continue. We hope that the UNSC Resolution 2803 will present an opportunity for lasting peace and Gaza’s reconstruction. We consider it essential that Palestinians are included in and contribute to all stages aimed at establishing peace. The ultimate goal is a two-state solution. The formula for this is laid out in the sufferings endured by our Palestinian brothers and sisters, in their dignified struggle, and in international regulations. It is high time for the international community to repay its debt to the Palestinian people. I hope that this important forum, which has brought us together, will serve as a new opportunity in this regard.”
“PEACE IS POSSIBLE ONLY THROUGH JUSTICE”
“With its fair, impartial and trustworthy approach, Türkiye is among the leading global players in mediation today. With the Ankara process, which we launched in order to end the tensions between Ethiopia and Somalia, we have once again demonstrated that disagreements can be settled by peaceful means. This vision of ours is reflected by the Group of Friends of Mediation, which we co-chair within the context of UN, OSCE and OIC, and by the Alliance of Civilizations initiative,” President Erdoğan stressed, adding: “We are witnessing the highest number of armed conflicts since WW2. In such an environment, we sincerely support Turkmenistan’s efforts aimed at preventive diplomacy, peace, security and development in accordance with its neutrality principle. We are not only marking an anniversary here today, but are also making a strong call to the future. Peace is possible only through justice, trust only through mutual respect, and stability only through dialogue and cooperation.”
