“Kazakhstan is our biggest trade partner in the region”

 

Holding a joint press conference with President Tokayev of Kazakhstan, President Erdoğan said: “We elevated our relations with Kazakhstan, with whom we declared our strategic partnership in 2009, to the level of enhanced strategic partnership three years ago. Kazakhstan, which is the top economy in the region, is our biggest trade partner in the region.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and President Kassym-Jomart K. Tokayev of Kazakhstan held a joint press conference following the fifth meeting of the Türkiye-Kazakhstan High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council the signing ceremony of agreements at the Presidential Complex.

“OUR INVESTMENTS IN KAZAKHSTAN HAVE REACHED SOME 5 BILLION DOLLARS”

Expressing his great pleasure over hosting President Tokayev of Kazakhstan in Türkiye for the fifth meeting of the Türkiye-Kazakhstan High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, President Erdoğan said: “As you would recall, we elevated our relations with Kazakhstan, with whom we declared our strategic partnership in 2009, to the level of enhanced strategic partnership three years ago. Kazakhstan, which is the top economy in the region, is our biggest trade partner in the region. We continue our path, aiming for the goal of 15 billion dollars in trade volume. Our investments have reached some 5 billion dollars. Kazakhstan’s investments in our country, on the other hand, has approximated 1.5 billion dollars.”

“TURKISH CYPRIOTS’ EQUAL AND NATURAL RIGHTS MUST BE RESPECTED”

Stating that they have exchanged views on a wide range of areas, from defense, energy and transportation to science and technology, President Erdoğan pointed to over the 20 documents just signed, and added: “We have addressed ways to transport more Kazakh oil to world markets over our country. We have discussed what we can do for the use and development of the Trans-Caspian Middle Road, which is the contemporary Silk Road. Security cooperation and the fight against terrorist organizations, FETO in particular, have also been items on our agenda.”

Drawing attention to the unofficial summit of the Organization of Turkic States Kazakhstan will host in 2026, President Erdoğan said they also continue to strengthen their solidarity with Turkish Cypriots, which he underscored are an essential and inseparable part of the Turkic world, and that they especially stressed in the joint communique they have just adopted that Turkish Cypriots’ equal and natural rights must be respected.

Further noting that he has also addressed regional and international matters with his Kazakh counterpart, President Erdoğan continued as follows: “We have exchanged views on such topics as Gaza, Russia-Ukraine war and Afghanistan. The terror state Israel has been brutally massacring the Palestinian people for 22 months. It has been carrying out a genocide against our Gazan brothers and sisters whom it has confined to 360 square kilometers. There are more brutal and more inhumane scenes in Gaza than the Nazi camps. A nation is being killed before the eyes of the entire world through hunger and thirst.”

“IT IS A MUST FOR EVERYONE TO RAISE THEIR VOICE”

Stating that the humanitarian situation in Gaza amounts to a disaster, President Erdoğan said that innocent children lose their lives due to both hunger and the Israeli occupation forces, and added: “It is a must for all the nations, all the conscientious countries, Islamic countries in particular, and all the people to further raise their voices. We will continue to what must be done on this issue. We will inshallah witness the days when those carrying out a genocide against the Gazan people are held to account before law and history.”
