National Security Council convenes under President Erdoğan’s chairmanship

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan chaired the National Security Council meeting at the Presidential Complex.

It was stated in the written statement issued after the meeting that the Council was briefed on the operations successfully conducted both at home and abroad against all terrorist organizations, especially PKK/KCK-PYD/YPG, FETO and DAESH, which threaten Turkey’s national unity and solidarity as well as its national continuity.

“It was stated that Turkey will continue its fight against terrorist organizations across the borders within its rights arising from international law and bilateral agreements, and that it respects the territorial integrity of neighboring countries. The hope was stated that those, who side with terrorist organizations or regimes that lost their legitimacy as opposed to respecting and supporting our country’s sensitivity regarding its security, will understand as soon as possible how they encumber their future with these behaviors of theirs,” the statement read.

It was noted in the statement that besides the support given to Libya’s legitimate government that strives to restore peace, stability and serenity in the country, the initiatives, which are doomed to fail, of third parties that dream of gaining ground with putschists by taking advantage of the chaos in this country were also discussed during the meeting, and it was reiterated that Turkey will continue to stand with the Libyan people against all kinds of tyrannies and will never hesitate to take necessary steps.

Underscoring that the initiatives, which are likely to undermine the environment of peace and stability in Cyprus, of countries and actors that disregard the presence and rights of the Turkish community in the Island will by no means be allowed, the statement read: “Our absolute determination regarding the protection of our rights, ties and interests emanating from international law in the Eastern Mediterranean was underlined.”

Stating that the aggression, which ignores the international law and breaks peace, of Armenia, which has for years maintained its illegitimate occupation on Azerbaijani lands, was also strongly condemned, the statement further read: “It was reminded that Armenia must put an end to its aggressive attitude and leave Azerbaijani lands that it has occupied, and that the Turkish people will defend any decision brotherly Azerbaijan takes in its rightful cause.”

It was further noted in the statement that the political and economic power order in the world has entered a restructuring process, and it was stated that the importance of Turkey establishing necessary mechanisms to make a strong preparation in every field accordingly was underlined.
