“No one can wag their finger at the judiciary under the pretext of criticism”

Speaking at the 157th Foundation Anniversary Ceremony of the Council of State, President Erdoğan said: “It is not only wrong but also irresponsible to target the members of the judiciary, who endeavor for justice, sometimes by involving their families and children, and especially to boo them in public squares. Criticism can be made with courtesy, but no one can wag their finger at the judiciary under the pretext of criticism.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at the 157th Foundation Anniversary Ceremony of the Council of State in Ankara.
“EFFECTIVE, POWERFUL, SWIFT AND ACCESSIBLE JUSTICE IS OUR TOP PRIORITY”
“Effective, powerful, swift and accessible justice is at the top of our government's priorities. We have always endeavored for this since the first day we took office. We have implemented many regulations to strengthen the judicial system and to place it on a more functional basis. We have supported the legislative and constitutional amendments with our reform and strategy documents. We have mobilized all our means to ensure that justice services are provided to our citizens at the highest level,” President Erdoğan said.
“In the last 23 years, we have enhnced, improved and strengthened our justice services day by day in a wide range of areas from physical and technical infrastructure to fundamental rights and freedoms, from fundamental laws and legislative amendments to the penal system, from alternative dispute resolution methods to institutional changes, from the enforcement and bankruptcy system to judicial registry procedures, from judicial target periods to personal rights,” President Erdoğan said.
“PUTTING THE JUDICIARY UNDER PRESSURE CANNOT BE JUSTIFIED IN ANY WAY”
“It is not only wrong but also irresponsible to target the members of the judiciary, who endeavor for justice, sometimes by involving their families and children, and especially to boo them in public squares. Putting the judiciary under pressure cannot be justified in any way. Everyone, be they politicians or journalists, should help the judiciary to function smoothly within the framework of the constitution and laws, and to ensure that any crimes are held accountable. Surely, criticism can be made with courtesy, but no one can wag their finger at the judiciary under the pretext of criticism,” President Erdoğan said.
“The Council of State will undoubtedly be one of the institutions from whose knowledge, experience, vision and guidance we will benefit the most in our efforts to make the 21st century the Century of Türkiye,” President Erdoğan underlined.
