President Erdoğan: A lockdown will be in place in 81 provinces starting on the eve of Eid al-Fitr until the last day of the Eid

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered remarks via videoconference following the meeting of the Presidential Cabinet.

Noting that Turkey continues to successfully fight against the pandemic by respecting the social distance, maintaining its robust healthcare system, supplying food and cleaning products and ensuring public safety, President Erdoğan said: “However, it is not enough that only we overcome the pandemic. We can only eliminate this global pandemic threat by resolving it all over the world. Nothing will be the same as it was a few months ago in our country and the world. We must continue our lives by prioritizing measures against pandemic diseases. We define this new era as controlled social life.”

“A lockdown will be in place in all our 81 provinces starting on the eve of Eid al-Fitr until the last day of the Eid, that is between May 23 and 26. I believe that following the Eid, we will, inshallah, see an outcome in which we will not be needing such restrictions,” President Erdoğan said.

President Erdoğan also noted that schools would not re-open this term and the new school year will start in September.

“NO PLAN HAS A CHANCE TO SUCCEED WITHOUT TURKEY”

Highlighting the escalation in regional tension areas, President Eroğan said: “We urge those, who made it their fundamental policy to support all that stand against our country in a vast area from Syria to Libya, to reconsider their positions. I hope those, who stand with murderous terrorists, dictators that massacre their own people, and self-seeking lobbies against Turkey, will see the facts as soon as possible as the world is on the verge of a new change. No project or plan or political and economic entity in our region or the world that excludes Turkey has a chance to succeed. Examples of that fact can be seen everywhere from the Balkans to the Mediterranean, from North Africa to South Asia. In light of these facts, we will, inshallah, rapidly complete building the great and powerful Turkey.”

Congratulating the May 19 Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day, President Erdoğan said: “I remember with respect Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who set foot in Samsun 101 years ago on May 19, 1919 to launch our fight for independence, and all our heroes of the War of Independence. Also, one of our soldiers were martyred in the Kağızman district of Kars. I wish Allah’s mercy upon him and offer my condolences to his family.”

“Today is the 76th anniversary of the exile of the hundreds of thousands of Crimean Tatars and the invasion of their lands by the order of Stalin in 1944. I especially would like to draw attention to the exile. I remember with grace our Crimean brothers and sisters who lost their lives in the exile. And I would like to state that we will always continue to stand by our Crimean brothers and sisters.”
