Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, force commanders, representatives of political parties and other high-ranking state officials were also present at the ceremony.

After President Erdoğan laid a wreath at the mausoleum, the attendees observed a moment of silence and sang the Independence March.

Afterwards, President Erdoğan proceeded to the Misâk-ı Millî Tower where he wrote in the Book of Honor the following:

“August Atatürk,

I once again remember with gratitude Your Excellency, your comrades-in-arms and our august martyrs on this important day when we are feeling the proud of marking the 102nd anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic.

I wholeheartedly congratulate all our citizens, friends as well as brothers and sisters living inside and beyond our borders on the 29 October Republic Day. We work with full determination to elevate the Republic of Türkiye, which we founded 102 years ago by sacrificing countless lives, ‘above the level of contemporary civilizations’, as you underscored.

We increase the reputation of our country at global scale as we also uninterruptedly maintain our investment and development mobilization at home. Although the front of the attacks against us and our government expands as we get closer to our goals, we will not deviate from our path, and with Allah’s permission and our nation’s support, we will leave our children a great and strong Türkiye as our biggest work.

Rest in peace.”
