President Erdoğan: Attacks on Muslims’ sacred values are disregarded under the pretext of freedom of thought
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered remarks during his meeting with the Union of International Democrats (UID) delegation at Dolmabahçe Office in Istanbul.
Drawing attention to the ongoing global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, President Erdoğan said Turkey successfully deals with the pandemic, and that it carried out the biggest medical evacuation of the Republican era by bringing more than 100 thousand people from 141 countries to their families.
Turkey has provided medical aid to 156 countries and 11 international organizations as part of its efforts to fight the COVID-19, President Erdoğan pointed out, adding that 16 hospitals and 11 service buildings have been inaugurated in Turkey during the pandemic.
“NONE OF THE ATTACKS TARGETING TURKEY ARE COINCIDENTAL”
Noting that none of the attacks targeting Turkey are coincidental and that those who couldn’t subdue Turkey in Libya, Syria, the Aegean, the Eastern Mediterranean and, most recently in Nagorno-Karabakh are now working to sabotage Turkey through asymmetrical methods and baseless allegations and accusations, President Erdoğan said: “This is one of the reasons behind the animosity against Turks and Muslims which has become more visible in Europe with the outbreak of COVID-19. We receive almost on a daily basis news of the people who face attacks or see their rights usurped just because they are Turks and Muslims. Besides Muslims, other communities with different ethnicities, colors and faiths are also adversely effected by Neo-Nazi terror. Particularly acts that target mosques, workplaces, foundations, schools, etc. have reached incredible levels. Burning the Quran in Sweden, ripping it in Norway, and encouraging caricatures insulting our Prophet under the pretext of press freedom are just a few examples of the attacks targeting our sacred values.”
“PROJECTS LIKE EUROPEAN ISLAM AND FRENCH ISLAM ARE BEING USED SIMULTANEOUSLY TO PRESSURE MUSLIMS”
Drawing attention to western countries’ reluctance to take measures in the face of those attacks that are on the rise, President Erdoğan stated: “Attacks on Muslims’ sacred values are being persistently disregarded under the pretext of freedom of thought. Projects like European Islam, French Islam and Austrian Islam are being used simultaneously to pressure Muslims. These projects, introduced under the cover of fight against extremism, are aimed at cutting off European Muslims’ ties with their homelands and the Islamic ummah.”
