President Erdoğan attends August 30 Victory Day ceremony at Anıtkabir

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended a ceremony held at Anıtkabir (Atatürk’s mausoleum) to mark the 98th anniversary of August 30 Victory Day.

After President Erdoğan laid a wreath at the mausoleum, the Turkish National Anthem, the Independence March, was sung.

Proceeding to the Misak-ı Milli Tower, President Erdoğan wrote in the Anıtkabir memorial book the following:

“On the 98th anniversary of the Great Victory, which heralded our independence, we remember with mercy Your Excellency and our august martyrs. We keep working to glorify and strengthen Turkey, which you have entrusted to us, and to elevate it even above the level of contemporary civilizations.

We are determined to enter 2023, when we are going to mark the centenary of our Republic, as a country that is more powerful, more independent and more prosperous in economic, military, political and diplomatic terms.

The critical successes we have had in various fields including Syria, Libya, the Black Sea and the Eastern Mediterranean as well as in energy and the fight against terror are the clearest signs of our resolve to protect our country’s rights and interests. Turkey will not bow to the language of threat, intimidation and blackmail particularly in the Eastern Mediterranean and will continue to defend its rights arising from the international law and bilateral agreements. Rest in peace.”
