President Erdoğan attends debut of Istanbul Mus’haf

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the debut of Istanbul Mus’haf held at Grand Çamlıca Mosque Conference Hall.

Making a speech at the event, President Erdoğan congratulated Hüseyin Kutlu who prepared the Istanbul Mus’haf, and voiced his belief that the mus’haf would take its place in history as one of the most distinguished pieces of the Turkish-Islamic arts.

Pointing out that Istanbul had for centuries hosted many scientists and artists both from the east and the west thanks to the support, interest and reputation it had been providing to scholars and craftsmen, President Erdoğan said: “Particularly, all the outstanding names of calligraphy in the Islamic world have migrated to Istanbul and maintained their works here. Istanbul, which has since Mehmet the Conqueror been the center of arts, culture and literature of Islamic and Turkish geographies, has influenced the world in these areas.”

“That Istanbul preserves its status as the center of calligraphy shows our civilization’s strength in this field, the continuation of our history and the brightness of our future,” the President noted.
