President Erdoğan attends iftar at Taksim Square

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the Traditional Beyoğlu Iftar event at Taksim Square in Istanbul.

Addressing citizens during the iftar, President Erdoğan congratulated all mothers in Turkey and across the world on Mother’s Day.

Touching upon the Supreme Election Council’s (YSK) decision to re-run the Istanbul mayoral election on June 23, President Erdoğan underlined the importance of elections in democracies and noted that do-over elections have examples in other countries as well.

What the citizens and Istanbul need is an atmosphere of tolerance and friendship that brings people of all faiths and ethnicities together around the same table, noted President Erdoğan, and stressed: “It is our common duty to embrace the efforts for a great Turkey and protect our national unity and solidarity.”
