President Erdoğan attends opening ceremony of newly-restored Museum of Painting of the National Palaces

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the newly-restored Museum of Painting of the National Palaces.

“As we enter a new era in which the political and economic balances of power are being reshaped in the world, I believe we should focus on culture, education and family the most,” President Erdoğan said.

“COUNTRIES’ SOVEREIGN RIGHTS ARE UNDER ATTACK IN DIGITAL WORLD”

“A new era, the digital age has begun. The raw material of this age is data. Those, who control data, can establish their digital dictatorships by disregarding democracy, the law, rights and freedoms,” President Erdoğan said.

The cyber world, with its rules that evoke the Wild West during the foundation of the US, has become a threat to humanity, which is not a coincidence but a deliberate choice. Those, who have control over it, can manipulate the chaos as they wish and turn it into political, social and economic results. This is a threat so grave that none of us can afford to ignore it. Because rather than the physical borders, countries’ sovereign rights are under attack now in digital world. When we defined certain impositions our country was faced with as “digital fascism”, some were upset by it. What happened in recent days has shown how far this fascism could dare to go. Therefore, we will, in the new era, broaden our homeland defense, which we conduct on land and in the air, to encompass the cyber homeland in the digital world just as we did at sea for the blue homeland.”
