President Erdoğan attends Radio and Television Journalists Association’s 2019 Media Awards Ceremony
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan participated in the Radio and Television Journalists Association’s 2019 Media Awards Ceremony held at the Presidential Complex.
President Erdoğan delivered a speech at the ceremony. Thanking media members who work selflessly to inform the citizens, President Erdoğan voiced his appreciation for the pioneering role the Radio and Television Journalists Association has assumed in both its own scope of activity and social responsibility projects.
“THERE IS NEITHER TERROR NOR VIOLENCE IN THE FUTURE OF THESE LANDS”
Pointing to Turkey’s 40-year long fight against terror, President Erdoğan underlined the necessity to work harder to show the true face of terror, and added: “There is neither terror nor violence in the future of these lands.”
Drawing attention to the great responsibilities media members and artists should assume during this process, President Erdoğan noted that while fighting against terrorists is the duty of security forces, fighting against terror is the duty of the entire society from politicians to the media.
Stating that Turkey has yet to receive any solidarity messages from the Western media or western human rights organizations in this period, President Erdoğan stressed that it is a must for people abroad to learn and understand the deep wounds inflicted by separatist terror in this geography, adding that Turkey is determined to support any step aimed at that end.

Touching upon the changes caused by digitalization in every sphere of life, President Erdoğan said that while digital networks diversify democratic platforms, they also bring about such notions as cyberbullying, cyberterrorism and fake news. “We are now exposed to more misinformation than at any time in our lives. Most of the reports spread particularly through social media are fake news.”
Further stressing that they are well aware of the reactions shown by social networking companies to steps taken by states to protect their citizens, President Erdoğan noted that those very social networking companies have not carried out any of the rulings given by Turkish courts against accounts that promote terror and violence.
