President Erdoğan attends Victory Day ceremony at Anıtkabir
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended a ceremony held at Anıtkabir (Atatürk’s mausoleum) to mark the 99th anniversary of August 30 Victory Day.
After President Erdoğan laid a wreath at the mausoleum, the Turkish National Anthem, the Independence March, was sung.
Proceeding to the Misak-ı Milli Tower, President Erdoğan wrote in the Anıtkabir memorial book the following:
“August Atatürk; we once again stand here before you on the 99th anniversary of the Great Victory, one of the glorious turning points on the path towards our independence. On this historic day, we remember you and our gallant martyrs with grace. We are carrying Turkey to a bright future in line with the goals you set for us.
With the steps we have taken in defense industry, we are boosting the deterrence of the Turkish Armed Forces, the apple of our nation’s eye, in all areas. With the reforms we have realized in democracy, justice, rights and freedoms, we are consolidating the ties between the people and our Republic. The Republic of Turkey, which you entrusted to us, is in safe hands. Rest in peace!”
