President Erdoğan casts his vote at Saffet Çebi Middle School in Istanbul

 

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and First Lady Emine Erdoğan cast their votes in the local elections at Saffet Çebi Middle School in the Üsküdar district of Istanbul.

President Erdoğan made a brief statement after casting his vote.

“THE INCIDENT IN MALATYA IS SADDENING”

Noting that the incident in Malatya and the killing of two citizens are saddening, President Erdoğan said: “Such incidents must not take place. Our Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Interior are conducting all the necessary investigations.”

“I wish Allah’s mercy on our two citizens who lost their lives in the incident and patience to their families,” President Erdoğan added.

“I hope the local elections will yield auspicious results for our nation. I also hope that turnout will be high when the polls close in the evening,” President Erdoğan said.

President Erdoğan also said that he will watch the election results to a certain point in Istanbul and will hold a press conference there before heading to Ankara.
