President Erdoğan: Eids are exceptional days when we consolidate our unity and solidarity

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan issued a message and congratulated all citizens on Eid al-Fitr.

“I hope the Eid may lead to peace, serenity and well-being for our country and nation as well as for the Islamic world and the whole humanity. On the one hand, it saddens us to be bidding farewell to the holy month of Ramadan. But on the other hand, our hearts are filled with joy as we reach the Eid, which symbolizes all the positive attributes of humanity. I thank my Lord since he has enabled us, as the nation, to reach this Eid al-Fitr as well in good health and well-being.

Eids are exceptional days when we consolidate our unity and solidarity, when we revitalize our eternal brotherhood. These special days, when the Lord softens our hearts, offer also important opportunities to cure resentments and make peace. Please do not neglect to visit and please orphans and the children of martyrs in addition to our mothers, fathers and relatives during the Eid.

“WE WILL NEVER ALLOW ANYONE TO DIVIDE US”

While living the joy of Eid, please do not ignore patients, the poor, the needy, the elderly, and the downtrodden taking refuge in our country, with whom we share the same homeland. Let us share the blessings the Lord has given us with those in need and extend them a helping hand, expecting to be rewarded only by Allah. Let some talk about confrontation and turmoil. Let some try to cast a shadow over our joy of Eid with hate speech. Let some run after provocations to carry the fire around us into our country. Never will we fall into such traps and allow anyone to divide and play us off against one another.

I ask each and every member of our nation to turn this Eid al-Fitr into a ‘great feast of brotherhood’ during which the 85 million embrace and make amends to each other regardless of their origins, faiths and dispositions. Once we have achieved this and reinforced our friendship and brotherhood, there will, Allah willing, be left no hardship which we cannot overcome. I am praying to Allah to clear the path in front of our country and nation, and to brighten its horizon for the sake of these holy days we are going through.

I expect our drivers, who will hit the road during the Eid, to refrain from moves that would put at risk both their own lives and the lives of their loved ones and others’ lives, and to strictly abide by traffic rules. Don’t forget to fasten seatbelts for a safe journey.

I thank our gallant security forces, who, particularly in the Operation Claw-Lock, are on duty both within and outside our borders for our homeland’s protection and our nation’s peace and well-being during these days of Eid. I remember with grace our august martyrs and salute our gallant veterans with gratitude. I congratulate our citizens as well as our brothers and sisters living abroad, our kinsmen and the entire Islamic world on Eid al-Fitr. Eid Mubarak.”
