President Erdoğan: Encouraged by the magnificence of the past, we will focus on the future

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan participated in the award ceremony of the Knowledge Dissemination Foundation in Istanbul.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Erdoğan said: “Learning from bitter-sweet experiences and encouraged by the magnificence of the past, we will focus on the future. The last 17 years of our country indicate that we have stepped in a period of recovery, relief, revival, so to speak, in scientific activities as well as in other areas.”

“TURKEY CANNOT HANDLE A NEW WAVE OF MIGRANTS FROM SYRIA”

Touching upon the ongoing developments in Syria, President Erdoğan, underscoring that Turkey cannot handle a new wave of migrants from Syria, stressed: “The last massacres in Idlib, where 4 million people live, have caused a new and major mobility in that region. Over 80 thousand brothers and sisters of ours fleeing from the bombardments in Idlib have started to migrate towards our borders. This number will further increase unless the atrocities against the Idlib people end. In that case, Turkey will not carry such a burden of migration on its own. The repercussions of the pressure we will face will also be felt in all European countries, first and foremost Greece.”
