President Erdoğan: Every individual of our nation will hold on to our freedom and future more tightly as they remember this unprecedented treason
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed the nation on the 5th anniversary of the July 15 coup attempt.
Praying for Allah’s mercy on the 251 citizens, martyred that night, and offering his heartfelt gratitude to those, who had the honor of becoming veterans while struggling against the putschists, President Erdoğan said: “We will never forget this treason committed against our country and nation. We have hold every traitor we identified and apprehended to account for this cowardice. And we will continue to so.”
“This coup attempt, which started in the evening of July 15, 2016 and ended the next day after having been trampled down by our nation, has taken its place in our history as a cautionary example. For generations to come, every individual of our nation will hold on to our freedom and future more tightly as they remember this unprecedented treason,” President Erdoğan said.
Noting that the attacks Turkey sustained in the past 8 years under different guises indicated that the Turkish nation’s fight to protect its homeland would continue, President Erdoğan said: “The scenarios, staged through various terrorist organizations from the PKK to DAESH and the FETO, aim to bring our country to its knees, to captivate our nation and to plunder our lands. The double standards, displayed against Turkey on every international platform, are another dimension of this scenario.”
“THEY CANNOT UNDERSTAND THAT WE ARE UPHOLDING A GREAT CIVILIZATIONAL AND HISTORICAL HERITAGE”
“Those, who come from thousands, tens of thousands of kilometers away under the pretext of fighting terror, shed blood and tears in the geography that is dear to our hearts, darkened the future of millions of people, are now furious because they have failed to make Turkey a part of this fate. Those, who think they are using our country as a shield for their security and comfort, do not, cannot understand that we are upholding a great civilizational and historical heritage. The efforts and sacrifices we make with the aim of ensuring peace, stability and safety in our region are actually the footsteps of the heightening awakening on the path towards building a great and powerful Turkey,” President Erdoğan said.
“THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO STOP US FROM BUILDING A GREAT AND POWERFUL TURKEY”
“Those, who tried to sever our country’s deep historical and cultural ties to geographies in all directions from east to west, from north to south, could not realize that they enabled us to build much stronger ties of affection. Those, who saw our demands for rights and justice which we voiced solely in the name of the entire humanity as political hypocrisy like their demands, could not comprehend the secret of us becoming the voice and hope of the oppressed. Just as they could not understand how our nation stopped the most modern combat vehicles with their bare hands on the night of July 15, they have not been able to figure out the reason behind our country’s stance on other issues,” President Erdoğan said.
“Whatever we want for ourselves, we want the same for our entire region, for our friends and for the entire humanity. Since we do this sincerely, not because we want to conceal our alternative motives, we are welcomed and held in high esteem wherever we go. We recently did this in Syria, Libya and Karabakh. Inshallah, we will stand with our brothers and sisters in the same sincere and just manner in Afghanistan and other places,” President Erdoğan noted.
“Thankfully, our nation understands, guides and supports us. That’s why we say ‘Turkey is invincible’ to the invaders that want to captivate our country just like we did a hundred years ago. That’s why we say ‘you will fail’ to those over ambitious people who harbor sinister intentions over our nation. They failed in the past. They failed today. And inshallah, they will also fail in the future. They will not be able to stop us from building a great and powerful Turkey,” President Erdoğan underscored.
