President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the opening ceremony of İsmail Fehmi Cumalıoğlu City Hospital in Tekirdağ.
“TEKIRDAĞ CITY HOSPITAL IS THE MOST ADVANCED INTEGRATED HEALTHCARE INSTITUTION IN THE REGION, INCLUDING GREECE AND BULGARIA”
Noting that the hospital had 486 beds, including 102 intensive care beds, 124 clinic rooms, 18 surgery rooms with cutting-edge equipment as well as laboratories, President Erdoğan said: “Tekirdağ City Hospital is the most advanced integrated healthcare institution in the region, including Greece and Bulgaria.”
Stating that the total intensive care capacity in Turkey neared that of the entire Europe, President Erdoğan said: “We continue to invest in healthcare in Turkey while also building a 250-bed hospital in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.”
Pointing to the recent rise in the number of COVID-19 cases, patients and deaths across the world, Presdient Erdoğan said: “We have to continue to fight against the coronavirus without giving way to complacency until a medicine or vaccine is found.”
Recalling the recent promising news about the efforts to develop a vaccine for the COVID-19, President Erdoğan said: “It is shameful that calculations are made on revenue and profit regarding an issue which is wreaking havoc across the world and which concerns the lives of millions of people. As we have said before, the vaccine must be the common property of the entire humanity and must not be sacrificed to companies’ desire for profit. It is of utmost importance that all countries, rich and poor alike, must have access to the vaccine.”
