President Erdoğan: Knowing that water is the cornerstone of our civilization, we focus on water investments

 

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at a mass opening ceremony of the newly-built water facilities.

Drawing attention to the investments made in the area of water, President Erdoğan said: “We see no difference in nature between the protection of the homeland and the protection of the water. Therefore, we have executed numerous important projects over the past 19 years so as to ensure our country’s water and food security. We have prepared the ‘Action Plan for Drinking Water in 81 Provinces’ in order to prevent any drinking water problems in our cities. We have planned our cities’ drinking water needs until 2040, 2050 and even 2071.” 

President Erdoğan further stated: “Knowing that water is the cornerstone of our civilization, we focus on water investments. With 277 billion liras’ worth of investment in total, we have made history in this area by inaugurating 600 dams, 423 ponds, 590 hydroelectric plants, 1,457 irrigation facilities and 262 drinking water facilities. We have invested more than 41 billion liras in water since our transition to the Presidential System of Government three years ago. In this period, we have implemented a total of 1,000 facilities including 152 dams and ponds, 225 irrigation facilities, 46 drinking water facilities and 402 floodwalls.”
