President Erdoğan marks “752nd Anniversary of Rumi’s Reunion”
"The timeless wisdom of Rumi remains a beacon of guidance for us in the Century of Türkiye, as we strive to build it by deepening our bonds of unity and solidarity," said President Erdoğan.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan commemorated with mercy the esteemed thinker, mystic, and "sultan of the heart," Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi, in his message for the 752nd International Commemoration Ceremony of Rumi's Anniversary of Reunion, held at the Mevlana Cultural Centre.
President Erdoğan stated that, although seven and a half centuries have passed since Rumi's reunion, he embodies not only these lands but also the collective conscience, spirit, and knowledge of humanity, adding:
"Rumi, a source of love who united the ummah through a call for peace and compassion and served as a sanctuary of mercy, has, through his timeless teachings, echoed across the ages as the voice of a saint whose heart embraced love over pride. The wisdom-laden teachings of Rumi have shaped the insight of these lands and become an enduring symbol of love, unity, and kinship. The timeless wisdom of Rumi remains a beacon of guidance for us in the Century of Türkiye, as we strive to build it by deepening our bonds of unity and solidarity. As we live through the challenges of our age and the threats confronting humanity, we better understand the value of Rumi’s teachings that place peace, love, unity, and solidarity at the forefront. Drawing inspiration from Rumi, we have become the hand extended to the oppressed and the fist that urges the oppressor to stop, embracing all of humanity."
President Erdoğan said that Rumi’s teachings are a legacy for all humanity, noting, "Şeb-i Arus (Night of Union) is not a separation but the joy of reuniting with the Divine and the peace provided by this reunion. We view this night as a chance to refresh our hearts and let affection bloom once more. With these thoughts and sentiments, I commemorate Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi and all our spiritual leaders with mercy, gratitude, and respect, and I pray that Şeb-i Arus brings peace, kindness, and tranquillity to all humanity."
