President Erdoğan meets with President Trump of the U.S.

 

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who is in The Hague for the NATO Heads of State and Government Summit, met with President Donald J. Trump of the United States.

The meeting addressed the Türkiye-U.S. bilateral relations.

Stating that the two countries have a great potential in various areas, energy and investment in particular, President Erdoğan added that improving the cooperation especially in defense industry will facilitate the achievement of the goal of a total of 100-billion-dollar trade volume.

Voicing his pleasure over the ceasefire established between Israel and Iran with the efforts of President Trump of the U.S., President Erdoğan expressed his hope that it will be permanent, and underscored the importance of close dialogue in immediately ending the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza and in peacefully resolving the Russia-Ukraine war.

As NATO’s leading allies the two leaders drew attention to the significance of the steps to be taken to further increase NATO’s deterrence.
