President Erdoğan meets with Russian President Putin
Making remarks before their tête-à-tête, President Erdoğan said they will discuss political, military, strategic, economic, trade and cultural issues at the 8. Meeting of the Turkey-Russia High Level Cooperation Council, and that they will also address regional issues during today’s meetings.
“THERE IS A 15% INCREASE IN THE TRADE VOLUME BETWEEN TURKEY AND RUSSIA”
Drawing attention to the 15 per cent increase in the trade volume between Turkey and Russia, President Erdoğan stated that their goal is to reach 100 billion dollars, adding that the maritime leg of the TurkStream Project has been completed, and that they aim to complete the project in line with the schedule.
Pointing out that one of the most important steps the two countries take jointly is their solidarity against the terrorist acts in the region, President Erdoğan said: “Particularly the steps that we are and will take in Syria are of great importance. I believe that today’s High Level Cooperation Council Meeting is very important in terms of these steps. The meetings to be held between our ministers are also crucial.”
PRESIDENT PUTIN OF RUSSIA: “TURKEY AND RUSSIA ARE IMPLEMENTING MAJOR PROJECTS”
President Putin of Russia, for his part, stated that they will launch the start of the 2019 Culture and Tourism Year, and noted that the bilateral trade volume between Turkey and Russia has reached some 35 billion dollars.
Drawing attention to the major projects Turkey and Russia are implementing, President Putin cited the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant and the TurkStream as examples of these major projects.
