President Erdoğan: Operations aimed at neutralizing terrorist organizations and ensuring the security of our borders will uninterruptedly continue along our southern borders
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan chaired the National Security Council meeting at the Presidential Complex.
FIGHT AGAINST TERROR
During the meeting, according to the written statement issued following it, the activities and operations successfully, determinedly and unwaveringly carried out both at home and abroad against all kinds of dangers and threats, particularly the PKK/KCK-PYD/YPG, FETO and DAESH terrorist organizations, which target our national unity and solidarity as well as our survival, were evaluated.
It was stated that the cross-border operations, which seek to eliminate terror at its source and are conducted in a manner respectful of our neighbors’ sovereign rights and territorial integrity, are aimed at ensuring the peace and security of our neighbors along with our own; and it was stressed that Turkey will preserve its stance about the exercise of its right to legitimate self-defense deriving from the international law.
It was noted that, within this framework, the operations aimed at neutralizing terrorist organizations and ensuring the security of our borders will uninterruptedly continue along our southern borders in the period ahead as well.
CYPRUS ISSUE
It was underlined that Turkey will firmly support the two-sovereign-, equal- and independent-state solution approach in order for the Cyprus issue to be settled permanently and that it, to this end, will continue to take every measure for the protection of the rights and interests of the Turkish Cypriot people.
It was highlighted that aggressive discourse, unlawful acts and provocations that disregard Turkey’s interests, relevance and rights must be avoided in the Aegean and the Mediterranean in order to make progress in the settlement of issues as well as to ensure sustainable peace and security in the region through mutual dialogue in accordance with the international law and good-neighborly relations.
“INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY MUST FULFILL ITS RESPONSIBILITIES IMMEDIATELY AND SINCERELY”
Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestinian lands and its inhumane attacks deliberately targeting civilians were strongly condemned and the international community was called upon to fulfill its responsibilities immediately and sincerely for the prevention of the reoccurrence of Israeli attacks that constitute war crime and for a just, lasting and comprehensive solution of the Palestinian issue.
