President Erdoğan: Our long-standing state is determined to protect the bridge between the past and the future in a robust manner

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at the 29th of October Republic Day reception at the Beştepe Culture and Convention Center in Ankara.
“On the 96th anniversary of the Proclamation of our Republic, I remember with respect all our heroes, to start with Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who contributed to the victory in our Independence War and to the foundation of our new state,” President Erdoğan said.
“SYRIA HAS BECOME AN ARENA FOR THE POWERS THAT HAVE DESIGNS ON THE REGION”
Noting that terrorist organizations, despite the huge support they got, have not been able to succeed in Turkey because of the strong and determined stance of the Turkish nation, President Erdoğan said: “Turkey has shown what it can do by its own means and of its own will, and without getting permission, when it comes to its national security and historical responsibilities.”
“Turkey, through its fight against terror, has exposed the hypocritical and ambivalent attitude displayed in the world, western countries in particular, toward terrorist organizations,” President Erdoğan said.
“If anyone other than Turkey claims to care about human rights, innocent lives or Syrian people’s future, let me be clear, they are lying. In the last two weeks, it has once again been revealed that the primary objective of the countries interested in Syria, except for Turkey, is to control the oil resources,” President Erdoğan said.
Noting that Syria has become an arena for the powers that have designs on the region, President Erdoğan said: “Turkey is the only country that sees, when looking at Syria, people, lives, brothers and sisters as opposed to oil and an opportunity to gain power.”
MEMORANDUM WITH RUSSIA
Recalling the memorandum of understanding signed with Russia and that the 150-hour deadline for the terrorist organization to leave the designated zone has expired, President Erdoğan said: “Russia has informed our authorities that terrorist organizations have been completely removed from the area.”
Noting that the deadlines, set following the agreements with the U.S. and Russia, has expired and that they will have talks the following day, President Erdoğan said: “With these talks, we aim to achieve results as soon as possible. We are not there to stay. We have but one objective: We are there to clear the area of terrorist organizations. Because these terrorist organization are harassing our country. We are there to save the people from these terrorist organizations.”
