President Erdoğan: Our nation has pursued and worked day and night for great dreams and goals throughout history

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan hosted a reception at the Presidential Complex on the occasion of the 97th anniversary of the August 30 Victory Day. The President made a speech at the event.

“I remember with mercy Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the Commander-in-Chief of our War of Independence who gifted this victory to our nation, esteemed members of the Grand National Assembly and all the members of our heroic military,” President Erdoğan said, adding that the bravery of the heroes that sacrificed their lives without hesitation lies behind the August 30 Victory.

“WE CANNOT SHOW EVEN THE SLIGHTEST TOLERANCE TOWARDS THOSE WHO VIOLATE OUR SOVEREIGN RIGHTS”

Underlining that Turkey doesn’t have an eye on any country’s soil, President Erdoğan said: “Yet, we cannot show even the slightest tolerance towards those who set their eyes on our soil, violate our sovereign rights and target our independence and future. The struggle we today wage in Iraq, in Syria, in the east Mediterranean and across our region has just one goal, which is to defend the rights of the Republic of Turkey as well as to ensure the security of friendly and brotherly peoples.”

Noting that societies which have no dreams or fail to make their dreams come true one by one inevitably become a tool of other societies’ dreams, President Erdoğan said: “Our nation has pursued and worked day and night for great dreams and goals throughout history. We have thereby managed to protect our independence, found our own state and prevent any disgrace to our nation’s honor in every region where we have lived for thousands of years.”
