President Erdoğan performs Eid prayer at Istanbul Camlica Mosque

 

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan exchanged Eid greetings with citizens and answered reporters’ questions on his way out of the Istanbul Camlica Mosque, where he performed the Eid prayer.

Thanking Allah for allowing us to live Eid al-Fitr this year as well, President Erdoğan expressed his wish for the Eid to conduce to the unity and solidarity of the entire Islamic ummah and the humanity.

SYRIAN REGIME’S ATTACKS IN IDLIB

In answer to a question regarding the Syrian regime’s attacks in Idlib, President Erdoğan pointed out that he discussed the issue by phone with his Russian and U.S. counterparts. Noting that Turkey maintains talks with all the countries that are relevant to Syria, Idlib, Manbij and the east of the Euphrates, President Erdoğan highlighted Turkey’s wish for peace to prevail in Idlib as soon as possible and underlined that Turkey will maintain with determination its sensitivities on the issue in the period ahead as well.

TURKEY’S ONGOING OPERATION CLAW AGAINST TERROR

Regarding Turkey’s ongoing Operation Claw against the PKK terrorists across the Iraqi border, President Erdoğan noted that the operation will continue to the end with determination without even the slightest deviation.

TURKEY’S PURCHASE OF S-400S FROM RUSSIA

In response to a question about the purchase of S-400 defense systems from Russia, President Erdoğan recalled Turkey’s former offer to buy Patriots from the U.S. on the condition that they be sold with the same favorable conditions as the S-400s as well as to form a joint working group about the S-400s with the U.S., saying that the U.S., however, didn’t bring forward a favorable counteroffer about the Patriots. Reiterating Turkey’s commitment to the S-400s deal, President Erdoğan underlined that Turkey takes steps as regards the S-400s in line with its national interests. Further stressing that Turkey has strategic partnership with the U.S. within the NATO concept, President Erdoğan added, however, that the U.S. support of weaponry and ammunition to terrorist organizations is saddening.
