“THE WORKS BETWEEN US AND THE LEGITIMATE GOVERNMENT IN LIBYA SHOULD BE CONTINUED IN A DETERMINED WAY”
In answer to a question about National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar’s visit to Libya, President Erdoğan noted that the visit had been planned at the beginning of the week, and that Naval Forces Commander Admiral Adnan Özbal had been sent to the region prior to Minister Akar’s visit.
“Following our visit to Qatar yesterday, our Minister of National Defense flew to Libya today. With the works this delegation will carry out there, we want to continue the process in Libya in close contact. The works between us and the legitimate government in Libya should be continued in an earnest and determined way and that’s what is being done,” President Erdoğan said.
“WE MAINTAIN OUR SENSIBILITY ABOUT HUMANITARIAN AID”
On the Turkey-Russia-Iran tripartite virtual summit held on Monday, President Erdoğan said: “We discussed the issues in the final declaration. It is our hope that after the COVID-19 outbreak is dealt with, we will hold the Tehran Summit face-to-face in Iran. We discussed regional problems during the talks, which was mainly about Syria. We discussed what we could do in Syria, how we would make use of the process ahead, and also what kinds of steps we should take in Akçakale and Cilvegözü regarding humanitarian aid. Humanitarian assistance is being delivered to Syria through Turkey by the UN and by Turkey. We maintain our sensibility about humanitarian aid.”
Highlighting that he paid his first foreign visit to Qatar since the pandemic began, President Erdoğan noted that he discussed with Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar regional issues, Libya in particular, and the developments in Syria, Iraq, Sudan and Yemen. “Above all, we talked about the political, economic, commercial and cultural relations between Turkey and Qatar. We discussed what we could do together in a sincere atmosphere.”
